Planning on having hamburgers for dinner, but as I forgot to get ready made burgers (like I usually do) figured I could give it a go of making them myself (they'll hopefully taste a lot nicer anyway), but just realised I have no idea what else goes with the mince. I also have a packet of the french onion soup mix too, which I believe make them really tasty, but from the recipes I've found, they seem to be a loose meat burger -I want a pattie that sticks together (as we will BBQ them).
Well, I don't know what the 'right' way is of making them, but this is what I put in:
Egg - for binding
Bread crumbs - enough to get right consistency - not too wet
I would probably use the soup mix - dependent on how much mince you might only want half as it will be too salty
Onion finely diced
couple tablespoons tomato sauce
I also put finely grated carrot and zucchini in mine but you don't have too.
I ended up going with my instincts just then making them up (as almost ready to BBQ now) - and that's pretty much what I did - minus the carrot and zucchini, but great idea though - will definitely look at adding those next time - always trying to find ways to add extra vegies to things (not so much for DS, but for DH ) But whoops, I ended up putting all the french onion soup mix in, it is a salt reduced one, so hopefully it won't be too salty - didn't even occur to me bout that
If there is any other suggestions, still happy to hear them as we tend to have a lot of hamburgers over summer (cooked on the BBQ) - so variations would come in handy.
You can buy a hamburger press to squish them into the right shape, Im assuming (I dont have one yet) that the pressure out on the would result in a more formed burger, rather than a loose burger IYKWIM?
I think tupperware have them
