my sil was on 5mg(not .5mg) of folate during her pg due to her health issues so you should be fine to take them...
her Ob and gp made her take them..

Thanks ... they are doing studies on higher risk mums... giving them 4mg instead of .4mg......... No results yet but!!
Think ill call and ask, so I can up my dose straight away if need be...

Due to my high risk nature I was told to take 5mg (ie 10 x the standard does) and one of the reasons was to prevent my medical condition cause cleft palate.

Im 28 weeks and baby is nice and healthy without any sign of cleft palate

Thats great news, musolissa!! My 5th bub has/had cleft lip and palate, so I guess I'm considered "medium" risk!!

In the unlikey case of bubba having a cleft, dont panic. You and bub will be just fine!!
