thanks Belfie & Ausientic for your suggestions. I thought I'd write my follow up in case anyone else has any hip pain.
I actually went and saw a chiro yesterday, and apparently my right hip was really out - by a lot apparently. He adjusted me and I am starting to feel better, although because he said i adjusted very easily, it could just as easily pop out again. I am hoping this is not the case. He also told me to pad underneath me in bed, ie, lots of doonas , sleeping bags etc, as to fill in the gap under my waist, as my hips were pressing on my bed (I have a hard bed) , which also causes pain. I have done this and still they hurt - not as much though. I am seeing him again tomorrow, but I just think that they ache after about 15 mins of laying on them, and I just can't sleep. I hope to god this is just a stage i'm going through. I'm not a great sleeper anyway, which isn't helping. One of my friends told me that if I can't sleep its because the bubba is awake, and this habbit will continue after birth - so I might as well get used to it! Great!!

Have you tried a body pillow? I've found that the best way to get comfy in bed. By the way from 20 weeks you should not be sleeping on your back - you should always sleep on your side and preferably the left one.
