i had really itchy skin in the first trimester. The GP gave me some cream but it did not really help. It was terrible, and happened more at night for me. I thought I had bed bugs but it happened in every bed of the house. I could not sleep it was that bad. Clothes would itch and I would get raised skin all over. Do not know if it was the same as what you are experiencing though. Crying child, must go.

Lolpigs, it could be a couple of things but at 20 weeks I came up with PUPPS rash on my belly and since about a week and a half ago it's come back again with a venegence. This time it is on my belly, upper thighs, arms and hands and nothing seems to get rid of it. I spoke to a middy at the hospital but they were no help and told me to go see my GP about it but I have an appt with my Ob tomorrow to hopefully get something to relieve the itching. The only way to get rid of it completely is for these babies to be born as the rash is like an allergic reaction to all the pregnancy hormones and they say it occurs in more pregnancies with boys than girls... FWIW I didn't get it at all with DD and now have been hit with it twice carrying these boys.

I get it too. This pregnancy it started earlier. I use a urticaria cream from my naturopath and that works. The cortisol the gp recommended doesnt work. I also make sure showers etc arent too hot.

My understanding is that it's a reaction to my liver processing bub's hormones. I should also be having vegie juice and lemon and water to help flush the liver but i've been too lazy so far.

A rash can be an indicator of something more serious, so you might find it useful to have a liver function test.

Thanks guys, yeah I wish I had a rash. Least then I could show the doctor something. I just have itches, and the *****ling feeling all over.

Yeah I try to have as luke warm showers as I can stand in the mornings and just have to avoid clothing that make it too unbearable.

I did notice early on I had a real aversion to heat, hot showers made me feel sick, I coudnt even hot food for awhile.

It might well be my liver. I have hereditary fatty liver.

Thanks again it makes me fee alot better to know I am not going crazy!

Ok. Well I'd mention Obstetric cholestasis to your OB, if s/he doesnt first. Symptoms include an itch without a rash. Most mums and bubs with it are ok, but it can increase some risks.
