Gah! I called mum to see how she went today and apparently it was pushed back until 2pm. At least it is still being done today.
How could they push her back after all these screw ups? That is so wrong! Really hope you come back with good news Lisa.

So, I have great news, but you're not going to believe this!

So, my sister got to the appointment today and was waiting for ages. They had to move around a lot of people to fit her in today and one just wouldn't budge, which is why she had to wait until 2.
Anyway, the Dr who would be performing the amnio called her and BIL in and had a bit of a chat to them. When the hospital faxed through the ultrasound results and my sisters blood group, apparently there were other results there.

So, it seems that they must have given my sister the risk of 1:108 based on the NT scan alone and then when the bloods came back, her risk is actually 1:39000!

However, her risk of Downs Syndrome has come back at 1:234. The Dr told my sister that the risk of miscarriage from amnio is 1:200 so they decided that they don't want to risk that happening and chose to not have the amnio. The Dr agreed.
Like my sister said, she would be blessed to have a DS bubba; It was the fear of imminent stillbirth that had her on edge.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, well wishes, love, advice & support during these last frantic couple of days. I am so thankful to be a part of this community that will rally around to support people they don't even know. From the bottom of mine and my family's hearts, thank you all xxxx

That's great news! 99.6% chance that she doesn't have a DS bubba. Sorry they gave her such a scare is the preterm labour risk over now?

My sister thinks she must have had a tummy bug that was going around as she started to vomit when she got home from the hospital - Sunday morning - and was feeling a bit off for most of yesterday but ate dinner last night and breakfast this morning and is feeling fine. She has had no pains since Sunday evening.

My sister & BIL are still going to be lodging complaints about the handling of all of this. Like she said, she would hate for someone else to go through this stress.

    Thanks everyone!

We're all just so relieved. We're all heading up there next weekend and it is so nice to be going up to rub my sisters belly and not to tears and sadness! I can't wait to drop off the boxes of girl clothes I have here for my sis!
