The poor little tyke. Diarrhoea burns the skin, so it doesn't take very long for a little one in nappies to get nasty blisters. The best thing you can do I think is just keep putting zinc cream or lanolin on (paw paw will probably help also), to not just soothe, but also protect from further pain if there is another poo. I would also keep her out of nappies as much as possible to give it some air - I know that's not going to be easy if she has diarrhoea but you can probably find a way!

Just use cooled boiled water on a facewasher (no commercial wipes - they would sting like you wouldn't believe) till it heals. As much nappy free time as possible. And as much as I hate to say it... switch to sposies till it's healed... only because they draw the wetness away and keep the bottom dry.
I hate using any products that aren't natural, but when either of my two look the slightest bit red I use bepanthen nappy rash ointment (yes, I'm fully aware of the chemicals in it before anyone says anything), but the point is... it works and fast. Then I switch back to Gaia. I's antibacterial, and thick, so it stays on. It's only $7 or $8 a tube from the supermarket, so should fall within budget.
When I worked in CC it was every three hours at a minimum and immediately after we noticed a child had soiled themselves . And if a child had more than two loose nappies, we called the parents to come get them. I'd be furious if it were me and I'd be asking for a huge "please explain" as to why she was allowed to get in that state. She must have either been left in them for a while, or no nappy cream applied or both for it to get that bad from the time you dropped her off to the time you picked her up. That's neglect in my book.
that isn't necessarily true. Ashton had a reaction to cows milk the other day, which caused his nappies to get runny and burn his bum, and it only took 1 nappy before he was red. Every poop after that just made it more and more red and by the end of the day he was red raw too
That was Saturday, it's Tuesday and he's still got a red bum but it's so much better than it was.
Frequent changing is what's helped. I change every 30 minutes - 1 hour. I tried nappy cream but it didn't do crap except make him scream and stain the nappies.
celsie i wouldnt say its neglect, my DD can have a clear bum without the slightest hint of nappy rash and then as soon as diarehea(sp?) hit her skin it breaks out in almost bleeding blisters too, regardless of how often she's changed and once its starts it just gets worse until the runs stop. so i wouldnt be too quick to blame the CC centre, by all means question it but it might have just happened
