I have compound heterozygous MTHFR. I do not take folic acid at all, as I do not absorb it. I take methylated folate. If you google Ben Lynch (the author of the above article), you'll find a site with a lot of information on it. Most health providers don't really understand it, as it is quite common in the population and not really considered a problem.

I find that when people are trying to be helpful, someone telling them they're not being helpful because the information given isn't what they wanted or expected, can be perceived as extremely rude.
