Yeah it was totally different for me too after the provera, much heavier than usual & also went for longer but I guess at least it did the job so I shouldn't complain! Did you get pregnant in that very first cycle?

Your friend is lucky i think. I havent talked to my doctor about any follow up options. He seems to think this will work. I guess I have to trust him. I had the last of my 1st dosage of Clomid on Saturday and im still feeling aweful. Is this what happened to you? My stomach is still upset and im still getting really tired. I know its only been two days but I want to fell better. Im over feeling sick all the time for at the moment nothing.:

You're right she is very lucky, especially because the doctors told her they thought she was going to have to resort to IVF almost definately as her case was so bad, so it just goes to show you the power of positive thought! Yes unfortunately I must say that I finished taking clomid about 10 days ago now & im still not well, I got such a bad migraine on Saturday that I spent the whole day vomitting & the doctor said it was almost definately the side effect of clomid even though i've been off it for well over a week! Id like to tell you that I feel great but I don't im afraid, I hope you improve soon though!:

I have the most disgusting taste in my mouth and throat. Nothing seems to be removing it. Maybe its because im feeling sick still... I dont know. Sad to hear you were so sick on Saturday - must have been the day for it hehe. I hope you are feeling much better at the moment.

That's no good, although id say you are probably right about it being because you have been so sick, we certainly are in the wars at the moment huh? Have you finished the clomid now? I have my first blood test on Thursday so ill be keeping my fingers crossed to hear good news that it's at least made me ovulate, id be happy if it's done that at least! Will you have blood tests to see if the clomid has been effective, I only ask because I remember you saying you were in a remote spot?

The doctor hasnt said anything about blood tests. He just said that if I dont have a period and am not pregnant after 32 or so days give him a call and he will increase the dosage. I guess its a hit or miss kinda game at the moment. Im keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope there is at least a glimpse of good news
Well it certainly sounds like he expects you to get pregnant which is a really good thing, you have to let me know as soon as you get the good news!!! Were you getting many periods before you started taking clomid?
nope, well it stopped about 11 months ago but then a few weeks ago.... the day of my engagement I got it really really lightly (pretty much just an annoyance) for 4 days - still I did have something.
Yeah well the doctor say to me he could make me pregnant it was just up to me when I wanted to start.

Well that's definately very positive news for you as he's basically said he can make it happen so that must make you feel a lot better about it? Hopefully then you will only have to put on with one lot of the clomid & then it will be another type of sickness hehe! Were your periods always irregular or just lately?
When I first started to get them they were then after a year or so they were great, I could narrow it down to the day then with the type of pain i was getting i could tell when I was getting it. but just in the last few months - just before i met my fiancee. How ironic!!

Yeah it's funny because I never really gave it a second thought as a teenager, it was quite irregular even then, id get it on time one month & then it would be two months before the next one or it may be 2 weeks late etc, but you tend to put it down as just the fact the your young etc. Then I was on the pill for 10 years & it's always regular so again you don't think about it until last year when I got off the pill in the hopes of getting pregnant & every time i've got my period the length between them gets longer & now it's about 4 months between them! You'll be fine, im sure of it & the doctor is obviously very confident of it & they wouldn't say that if he didn't believe it so try & think positive & relax & ill think good thoughts for you too;) By the way do you ever monitor your body basal temperature? I've been doing it but it's doing my head in so I think ill stop as im analysing it too much.
kell - is ur blood test being done one day 21? thats when mine was done. When i heard the results that i "o" it was the best news i had heard in a long long time! good luck sweety!

Yep doing it on day 21 which is Thursday this week so im keeping my fingers crossed & if I don't "o" then ill they will test on day 28 to see if by some chance it happened later. Did you have obvious symptoms that you ovulated because im a bit worried I haven't "o" because i've had no noticeable symptoms? Also did you ever take your basal body temperature when you were trying?
nope! i tried nothing. I was soooo certain i didnt "o". When he told me i was like "are u sure?". the only time i took my temp was when my period was due and i noticed it was a little up!!! ahhh how exciting! everything is crossed for u!
Thanks Hollye, I think im going to stop bothering to take my temp as it's really doing my head in trying to analyse it etc, I mentioned it to my doc & she said she wouldn't put too much emphasis on it as unless you really know what you are looking for then it can be more misleading & some peoples temp only change by 0.1 or 0.2 so it's hard to tell. Well im glad you didn't have any sign of ovulation as now im not quite as worried!

Just after a bit of information on clomid. Last friday I went to specialist and he has given me prescription for Clomid. I have read the info but I am unsureas to when I should take it (morning or night). I noticed a couple of posts recently that a couple are currently taking it and was wondering how it was going.
Wow Kell, Even when I was on the pill I started to spot a little. Yes I have been taking my basal temperature its kind of annoying and yes I keep analysing it too. Its making an interesting pattern but not exactly what the doctor said it should do, but then again its not what he said the opposite would be like. Im so confused. I guess when I call him in a couple of weeks time he will explain. Hopefully:

I think I should probably stop doing it as I think it's making me more anxious as im analysing it too much, the only deviation i've had has been yesterday morning my temp was 35.90 & today it was 36 & it's usually between approximately 36.30 - 36.45?

Welcome! Both the chemist & my specialist told me that there isn't a specific time to take clomid, only that you should try & take it at the same time of the day every day so that you don't forget a dose so I guess it's just when it's easiest for you? They also recommend you take it along with food or after food but I will say that I took mine after dinner every night because I had quite a few side effects from it & found that if I took it earlier in the day they affected me too much where as at night I went to bed so a lot of the side effects didn't bother me as much, hope that helps but I can't speak for Christine & Hollye! Not sure how the clomid is going so far but i have my first blood test tomorrow to see if i've "o" so ill post my results next week!
yeh i took mine at night too.. same reason as kell. hopefully i wouls sleep through the worst of the symptoms. lol.
as for temps. When i took my when my period was due it was 37 and 37.2. so up a fair bit, but it made me go out and get a preg test!

I have just finished my 1st dose of Clomid saturaday just gone. I was told to take it each morning but I dont think it reaslly matters when you take it. The first day I took it I was fine but then after the second day I got really tired and felt ill. Occassionally I ached all over but it wasnt anything too stressful. I just dont like feeling sick.
It will be great to hear about another persons journey.

Kell. My temp has been weird. It is 36.4 one day then the next its high, then low etc.. like: 36.4, 36.5, 36.4, 36.6, 36.4, 36.7, 36.75, 36.4. On the graph it looks funny but im starting to analyise it and its not looking fantastic. I dont know though, its just me. When I look at the temp I dont really understand why there is so much change in mine.

Just starting on Clomid tomorrow, this is my second time on it the last time was 4 years ago to no avail. They over stimulated me last time and I landed in hospital bleeding badly. This time have regular periods thanks to metformin & menstracare(from natropath) feeling very apprehensive but hoping it works this time:pray:

my fingers are crossed for you. I started clomid 25th nov 2008. the doctor told me to wait 32 days before starting my next dosage i was beginning to pretty upset but last night my period came. im so excited. it worked.... i mean yeah no baby but at least my period is here... there is a start!!!!

Just a catch up on whats happening. I went on first dose of clomid on the 16th December 08. I didn't seem to have any side effects except felt a bit bloated. fingers crossed to see how things go.

Ive had PCOS for 10 yrs and been TTC for the past 6.. but not REALLY trying.
I have all the meds at home that I need, Provera (I dont get a period, havnt for 2 years), metformin and clomid but I have never used it - gave up lol. But now, I am ready and rearing to go. So my question is... when did you all start your provera? Is there a particular time of day? ALso I remember that its for 5 days or stop until you bleed. Then the Clomid... is that started on the day of bleeding or before?
Sorry for all the questions... I know Im only new here. I just cant get into to see my specialist for months and I am desperate to start yesterday lol.

hi there, i'm new to this forum business so bear with me. I have been on and off clomid now since 2004...that seems like a lifetime....and a lot has happened since then. I have 2 sons (a 2 year old and a 4 year old), so i am proof that clomid works. took me 2 goes to have my first son, then had an ectopic (10wks) and lost a fallopian tube, took 4 goes to have my second son, 2 more failed attempts, fell with triplets this year (yes it does happen) but lost them at 14 weeks and am now on my second attempt this lot of cycles. it's hard work, the side affects suck, you have major ups and downs, but if you get that little baby in your arms, its worth every painstaking moment. stay strong and keep supporting each other...fertility problems in this country are rank and it helps to know you're not the only alien out there.....good luck to you all.....

I took my first dose of Serophene second week of december. I didn't have and side effects that i was aware of. I have been very tired for the whole month bit if that is to do with that or the stinking weather - I am not sure.
I had my blood test on friday (24 days) but lucky for me my specialist is away for another week - the waiting game is wonderful.
Could someone please tell me if being on clomid is meant to make your cycle 28 days or would it be normal (if it worked)? I have not been told anything and have no idea at all.

Was wondering if anyone has any insight to when best to take clomid. I am about to start taking my second round of clomid (tonight) and just wanted feedback. Last month I took it in the morning and was in tears for the majority of the day and extremely fatigued (besides some other minor side effects) but I don't know whether it was a direct affect of the drug or the fact that I have to take the little blighters if we want to have a baby.
I have thought to trial it at night and wondered if anyone else has played around with the time of day to take them to reduce the effects a little.
Also thank you for starting up this thread for the clomid questions. It is a wonderful idea and I look forward to communicating with others going through the same.

I am up to my second cycle of Clomid and i prefer to take them at night because any side effects that i am going to experience i sleep my way through them.. the only thing that I have to do for these side effects is go to bed a bit earlier than usual cause i get a little bit of fatigue from them.
Other than that i dont feel the side effects of them during the day cause by the time i wake up the effects have gone.
i would like to hear of what side effects other people have as well.
just think of the result that we are going to receive from taking the clomid

Sorry for butting in here but thought id let you know about my experience with clomid & provera. Im not sure if you have read earlier posts in this thread but I have added quite a few posts earlier on but haven't posted in quite a few months. I also am a night time taker of both clomid & provera for the same reason as coops in that I found the symptoms were much less severe. We were TTC for over 12 months before I was diagnosed with PCOS & then went onto the provera & clomid. I did want to tell you all though that after another agonising 6 months of failures, my final round of clomid worked & im now 7.5 weeks pregnant :dance:!! I had an early scan last week to check that all was ok & the heartbeat was a healthy 127 beats per minute & all looks good so far so im now crossing everything in the hopes that I can hang onto it. I just wanted to say that as agonising & emotional as the process is that it's all worth it in the end & that even though sometimes you feel like nothing is working or going your way that it can all turn around very quickly. Hope you are all doing well & best of luck with your clomid journey.

Congratulations on falling pregnant i really hope things go well for you and would love to hear how you are doing over the course of the time and especially at the final result lol, i am onto my 2nd dose of clomid, my husband and i are wanting to become parents in a massive way... we have so much love to give and nobody to give it to. i understand what you are saying by the "nothing is working" statement thats what it feels like at the moment.
I feel like i am doing something wrong or something isnt right so i went and had a ultra sound to make sure everything was in tact and everything was.... but i feel it in my bones that i will be pregnant.
I have a 6 month old nephew that i have been so clucky over since the day he was born and it is driving me nuts lol i have started to collect the baby things but i refuse to have them in the house until we are pregnant.
the emotional rollercoaster was really bad at the start thinking i was going to be pregnant straight away but then i figured hey when it happens it will happen.... but then i go back to emotional rollercoaster lol its up and down.
but it will happen and when it does everybody will know about it. :lol:

Thanks coops for your best wishes, im certainly hoping everything goes well too, although I must admit that I didn't think id be this nervous or worried if I ever fell pregnant, which id say was due to all the dissapointment we have had throughout the whole process. I guess all I can do is keep my fingers crossed & do everything right! I know exactly how you feel though & it's very hard not to get dejected & feel like everythings going against you in that situation, all I can say is that im sure that everything will work out for you guys & it will all be worth it when you finally get pregnant, plus I think it's always good to talk to others in a similar situation because it gives you hope. I know that this thread was great for me as I knew there were others out there experiencing what I was experiencing & I could talk to them about it because other people don't always understand how heart renching the whole process can be so you are definately doing the right thing & you have the right attitude which is a great start. How long have you been on the clomid for? So you don't have anything wrong like PCOS?

you would certainly be a bundle of nerves due to the past that you have encountered.. it would make things exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time.
It makes it so hard when we have been trying and all we want is to be pregnant, also we fell pregnant last year but i miscarried i was only 4-5 wks but still it killed me when it happened and now trying to get pregnant just makes it so much harder but we are staying positive that it will happen.
reading the threads of the website really helps cause you know that you are not alone when it comes to trying to get mother nature to jump start the process.
i am just taking my 2nd does of clomid (50mg) so i really cant complain as yet lol.... i havent got PCOS i thought i did but i had a ultrasound to make sure everything was in tact and it came back clear which was good.
If you dont mind me asking how long have you been on clomid?:)
