    Hanging Rock

I wandered around there today, I had the urge to go there this morning, wasn't going to go for a drive today other than to the markets.

The energies are quite interesting. Didn't feel anything bad, just lots of energies and alas, I didn't find Miranda

In a few of the photos there is a haze across them, it isn't from the camera because I was checking to see if the lens was clean before taking the shots.

I want to go back again, but not on a weekend as there were too many people there to fully be able to sit and meditate without being disturbed.

Interesting hun, hope you get a chance to go back soon
They wouldn't be gorgeous in an open expanse to explore and get lost

Can I ask - is the story about Hanging Rock true then? I was told it was fiction ... but not by an overly credible source

    It has always fascinated me.

I went there a few years back. Alot of energy at that place. I got an eerie feeling from the rocks, all of them in shapes of faces and seemed like they were all trying to tell me something but couldn't get it out. Its absolutly beautlify place though.

what i did find funny though, is the sign at the front gate that basically says something like if you get abducted or disapear its not our fault you enter at your own risk =P

I believe it is fiction, but still a great story any way.

Been many years since I went there, it would be great to go again as an adult rather than a messed up teen.

Yes the book itself is fiction. I need to track down a post 1987 version of the book when the final paragraph was put in (after author's death & at her request). I had a copy from just after the movie was done in the 70s.

Astrid - I was reading yesterday that the events that the book are based on (the girls going missing) is fiction but they can't discount it being based on similar things happening.

The rocks are amazing, the shapes and faces, same with the trees. They're replanting a whole heap at the moment.

My copy is the 1987 illustrated edition. The dust jacket says it is up to the reader to decide.

On a side note it was a gift for my 18th and my mum has my birthday wrong

ETA: Mine stops at chapter 17 (viking), looks as though chapter 18 was added after this edition (Angust and Robertson)

Apparently at certain times of the day there is a haze at Hanging Rock, something to do with the position of the sun. They filmed the movie during these times, it took them ages to film because of this, apparently.

The first time I went there was in 1987. I hated the place. I remember being scared and crying. (I had never seen the movie)

The second time I went there was a few months ago. Actually about 7 months ago. It wasn't as scary this time but I did have a yucky feeling there in a few parts. I think personally it has to do with what was done to the land, and the inhabitants more than anything Miranda'ish. Some parts are very peaceful feeling, others not so much. The other thing that is strange is the difference in how it felt from being a child, to being an adult. As a kid I remember feeling lost, just being there, even though I knew where I was. The other thing I felt was an overwhelming sadness. As an adult I didn't feel lost. I felt almost free. But different parts (and not the parts you would expect - ie. not the rocky parts) felt quite icky, like that pit of your stomach feeling... And like I said I attribute that to what has happened on the land, not anything spooky like iykwim?

I have only been there once, for a big car show. It felt really wrong being there with all the crowds so I spent most of the day sat by myself in the carpark. Really peaceful once I was by myself, but I could blame my morning sickness for how I felt I suppose (I was about 13 weeks pg with DS1 at the time).
