Just an update in case anyone reads this in the future for reference - spent a night in hospital as the pain and bleeding got severe. They did an ultrasound the next day and said they can't see the IUD so it must have been expelled.

Not too sure what to do about contraception now.... if Only we weren't ever going to want more kids I'd be chatting to DH about getting the snip LOL
