    Missed Miscarriage.. What happens next?

Found out yesterday that I have a missed miscarriage.
I am 11 weeks but baby measured 8weeks5days with no heartbeat.
I have only had light spotting, nothing at all really.

I am just wondering what happens next?

I had some blood tests done yesterday to check HCG levels and some more today and then another appointment with doctor this afternoon where I am thinking I will be in hospital to have a D&C..

Just feel like a deer caught in head lights.

:hugs: both my losses were missed miscarriages.. I had a D&C with both...

I guess if you opt for a d&c then that will go ahead within the next day or so..

    Sorry for your loss..

I'm so sorry for your loss ll80. It's an absolutely devestating feeling...

Aussienic is right, chances are they'll be wanting to go ahead with a D&C, unless things start to happen naturally by themselves. I found the D&C I had with my first loss easy to cope with physically, but not emotionally. My second loss was much earlier, and it was the reverse - hard physically but not so difficult emotionally.

Hang in there, it does get better in time. :hugs:

My missed miscarriage was also a D&C. Found out at 13 weeks I had lost my baby at 11 weeks. I was given the option of waiting it out for nature to take its course, or have the D&C. I have had both a "natural" miscarriage and a D&C and I honestly couldn't tell you what is easier to deal with - they both have emotional and physical repercussions.

I'm so sorry you have lost your baby, and wish you luck with whatever you decide.

    Hi ll80,

I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs: It is so devastating finding out that your pregnancy that you thought was going along normally is over

I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks, our bub had died a few weeks previously. I opted for a D&C as well. I had my DD to consider - I was worried about my ability to care for her while I had a natural m/c, and did not want to wait for what might have been weeks for it to happen, afraid to leave the house in case it happened while I was out somewhere.

Physically it was no problem at all - into hospital first thing in the morning and out again a couple of hours later. They only gave me a light general anaesthetic, so had no side effects except for being a bit sleepy that day - but that could have been due to getting no sleep that night because of the emotional stress

Emotionally, I am still dealing with it. It happened in October and it has been a hard road since then, but I think I am starting to come out the other end now. It is very much a step forward, two steps backward process though

Wishing you all the very best xx

ll80, I can fully understand the shock and absolute sadness you are feeling right now. I am so very sorry that things haven't worked out for you this time.

I had a missed miscarriage also. At 10 weeks I found out my baby had died at 6weeks 6 days, and I had even seen the heartbeat on an US at 6 weeks 4 days! It is a heart crushing experience, which there really is no comfort for right now.

My D&C was on 23rd October, and I am TTC again now, however it has been hard, and still is.

I found the D&C a quick, easy choice as I wasn't prepared to walk around knowing my baby was inside me and not alive, waiting for it to happen naturally. I also didn't want to be faced with the natural MC leaving anything behind and having to have a D&C anyway.

Whatever you decide, please know that you are in my thoughts and I hope you can find any comfort you can right now.

    Take care,

    Em x

I had a missed miscarriage in July at 6 1/2 wks.
My ob recommended that i wait and see if it passes naturally. In the end had a D&C and wanted to move on.
I know that this is a difficult time, but don't dispair. I had my D&C late Aug, had a period on the 17th September and then concieved overseas on holidays. Am now nearly 16weeks.
Hang onto the hope that your little bundle of joy will be in your arms very soon.
    Take care,
    Amanda

Very similar here, I had the D and C done immediately for the same reasons.
I'm really sorry for what your going through, it's absolutely horrible to experience this. I felt so incredibly betrayed by my body for not showing me that something was wrong.
There are plenty of us here who have come through the other side of miscarriage, talk, cry and vent all you need to hun :hugs:

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I think I will opt just straight for d&c when i see my doctor this afternoon.
I also have a 3 going on 30 yr old and think it would just be easier all around, also I don't fancy keeping something dead inside me for any longer than necessary, wording may be a bit harsh but I think you will get my meaning.

    Thanks again

I understand the feeling - I felt like my body had let me down not only by letting my baby die, but by then holding on to it afterwards. My FS did the D&C the same night as the scan which showed things had gone pear-shaped.

It may sound harsh, but I think that there's a lot of us that have shared similar thoughts.

Once again laura im so sorry :hugs:

After a few days of light bleeding I went to my Dr and she sent me to the hospital, after they did a scan and bubs had no HB they put me in for the night for the D&C to be done the following day..midnight I 'passed' our angel bub but they still did the D&C to make sure nothing was left inside that may cause infection.

    Hi Laura,
I am in my 5th day after a curette and although I passed most of it naturally I'm so glad I got it over with physically, emotionally its hard and I'm still finding it tough to let go.. Be strong and believe in yourself.. As so many here have gone through this it's great to have them and to know we will feel better even if we never forget the little angel

    HI everyone
I had quite an eventful night which saw me become a human pin cushion before rushing off for an immediate D&C after some scary blood loss.
Feeling very tired and lethargic will update you all on the full events when I feel a bit more with it.

Thanks again for all the well wishes
    ...Laura
