How about telling him that he has lots of options as to where to wee - the shower, the bath, the back yard, the potty, the toilet. You don't care which he uses. And while he's at home how about no undies and no pants?
And maybe put the potty in a really private place - does he have a tent or something similar?
Oh how frustrating for you! Do you have a plan of attack? Persevere and try to wait it out, or go to see someone about it (gp/paed...)....I don't know what else!
Still the same. No improvement at all. I mean he doesnt wear nappies during the day but hes just weting his pants without caring.
Doctors don't seem concerned. Think he will mature more in the next year and will eventually learn. Well they don't have to live with this! It's getting on my nerves.
hun. I can't imagine how frustrating this must be.
Do you make him clean up after himself and change himself? Maybe if you're giving him the attention thats why he's not worried about wetting? Because there is something kind of positive for him out of it, kwim?
how frustrating for you, i'm sure he'll get the hang of it sometime, ds still wont poo in the toilet, even though he's been wee trained for 1 year now, and i ask him everyday if he will, and he still asks for a nappy. i don't stress too much though, i figure it'll all click into place some day, hopefully in the next year though, before big school...
I've heard someone talk about a continence helpline (I think it's this one) where you can talk to a continence nurse - maybe they'll be more help than the GP?? Dunno, but it might be worth a try. I think it's awful that the GP is just brushing you off like that

have you heard of the 3day potty training method? that does what you'[re talking about (and they have books on it).
the concept is to have the child nappy free totally for three days.
you spend the whole time home, roll up any rugs, spend more time in noncarpetted rooms, put picnic rugs down on the floor, mattress protectors on the sofa.
i didn't use this method so don't know more details, but my friend used the method with both of her kids at two. apparently it can be done at older ages too.
i think part of it is BODY AWARENESS. so that instead of nappy catching/containing his waste, he will get the sensations and see the results, smell the results.
we had potties in various rooms, potette for outings.
best of luck, goggle 3day potty training for more info.
Not good at all unfortunatly Dollyroux. We've put it down to severe anxiety. We're seeing a paed soon so hopefully they'll have some tips on how to work this out.
On a good point though DS2 has been to the toilet twice in the last couple of weeks! I reckon he'll be TT before DS1 now.
I am sorry to here it hasn't been going well and I can imagine the stress and frustration surrounding it all.
My ds1 did a very similar thing with tt...has amazing bladder control! With him I did the wait and he'll get it thing but just before he turned 3 I cracked down more, we tried all the tricks, new toys, treats, toys on the toilet/potty, watching tv while on the potty, watching friend use the toilet, watching mum and dad use the toilet blah blah blah and in the end a good friend of mine helped (she is early childhood qualified) She helped me come up with the idea of a toilet song (ds1 loves music) when he went to the toilet eveyone in the house would go get a plastic bowl and spoons to use as a drum and we'd sing "wees in the potty, na na na na na over and over and he thought it was great...after a few times as soon as he used the potty he would run and get the bowls and spoons for everyone...maybe this would work and if you an't get him to go to show him the song maybe use the sond for dd or ds2 and tell ds1 everyone will do the song just for him if he goes to the toilet.
If that doesn't work or you don't think he would go for it, maybe you could tell us what he's into and someone will have an idea for the right currency??
don't know if this helps, just popping in to say that one of my sweet boys was like that. I must have toilet trained him for 2 years - and still it seemed to make no difference. He just didn't get it. when he did "get it" (4.5 yrs) he was dry day and night within a week. This year he is school captain. His siblings just about had to present me with a written submission to be allowed to stop wearing nap pies. if I had my time over I would have left him in nap pies and stressed less.
