Why Fluff ?????

Putting on a load of washing isn't that hard though, I always laugh when people say "isn't it more work" and I say... "Well, I'm not HAND washing" LOL! Chuck them in the machine and then a few minutes to put them on the line. Seriously easy! And if you have between 20-30 nappies, you can get away with washing every 2-3 days. Honestly, you wouldn't want to leave them any longer...

BTW we didn't have a dryer until a few weeks ago, and Jazz has been in cloth since she came home from hospital. just get a clothes airer, that way you can wash and hang inside even if its wet.

They're pretty colours and they're so nice and soft. The look really cute too. Environmentally friendly. I hate buying stuff then throwing it in the bin. If Claire is wearing sposies, I can fill up a whole bin in a day. Not cool!

Theyre really not much work at all. We use a flushable liner in each nappy, so if she does a poo in it, usually we can just pick up the liner and put it all into the toilet. The poo just comes up with the liner. You're not supposed to put poo in the bin anyway, so you should be doing the same with a disposable nappy (put the poo in the toilet not the bin). Then I just chuck the dirty nappies in the bucket and when the bucket is full, they all go in the wash. Its probably 2 extra loads of washing per week.

Jords, if you want to wash less, get more nappies. But if you leave them for more than 2-3 days the smell is horrendous. Its the wee smells, not the poo smells that knock me flat.

I understand its better for the environment, but surely it is more work for yourself?

The average time it adds to wash and fold mcns (in a washing machine lol) is 7 mins a day.

So no, not really extra work, just like folding any other washing.

For me it wasnt that they are a bit better for the environment - they are EXPONENTIALLY better for the environment. Disposable nappies take hundreds of years to decompose...so EVERY SINGLE disposable every put in land fill is still sitting there. Can you imagine the biological hazard that creates? And that is only one concern that creates!

Is 7 minutes a day really all that much when you think about how much work you are creating for your son and his childrens' generations to clean up the mess?

That is my thinking anyway. Disposables are dirty, disgusting, hazardous, expensive - for you, the environment and your kids, full of chemicals that are banned for use in womens sanitary pads because they are known to cause TSS....

...And beautiful gorgeous fluffy MCNs are none of those things...they are renewable, resellable, mostly made by WAHMs so you suppoprt grass roots economy, cheaper over the course of your babys nappy life and I know I am making an active contribution to ensuring Im not contaminating the world my daughter and grandchildren will live in

So why NOT fluff?

I am one that started late with MCN....I am so glad I did!! It really isn't any extra work, with 5 people to wash for already it's only one more load every couple of days.
I love how gorgeous they are...everyone comments when you are out.
Jack never really got rashes anyway....but they are great if your baby has sensitive skin.
It is quite expensive to buy all at once when you are starting late, but it is well worth it and you are saving money in the long run.
You can re-sell them on buy for baby (a baby auction site) and they really do fetch quite a good price!

I wish I had known about them before, I would have started buying while I was preggers. But I will keep what I have for the next one.
