My 5th bub, DD2 was born at 35 weeks and we had a really good run with her.
She was 2210g born and BF from the beginning, we were lucky she never needed a NGT...but it is something many bubs born 34-35 weeks do need until BF can be established. She had low flow o2 just overnight.
She had initial breathing difficulties and went down to the SCN about 3 hrs after birth. She also had problems with maintaning her body temperature, she would get to cold.
She spent one night in the incubator before moving to an open cot, she was in the nursery for 3 days and then came up to me for another 3 days, she had problems gaining weight but we had enough weight gain on day 6 to come home...she came home just over 2kg.
If your bub requires a little more help there is a chance you may go home and bub stay in the nursery, the average stay for a 34 weeker is 19 days (taken from an Australia Premmie site)
I hope all goes well and bub has a smooth, quick journey through the SCN
