Dd1 was born at 34 weeks, she spent a few hours in the nicu in a humidicrib with oxygen and then three weeks in the scn. She was fed with a nasal gastric tube for most of the time. The suck reflex comes in at around 35 weeks. She had to do all suck feeds by boob or bottle to come home and put on weight. Dd had jaundice and spent 48 hours under the blue lights.
Encourage skin on skin contact, it's important for bonding and your milk supply. Also do as much as you can in the way of nappy changes, temperature checks, washes etc. some midwives do it all but others let you help.
Dd is now for and we stopped correct her age at 18 months when she caught up with the charts, except for her weight which is still under but she is healthy.
