They told me there was no reason why I couldn't have a term baby... Yet ds2 was 34weeks after weeks of contractions etc.... I have a few friends who have had very early babies and very IUGR who went on to have full termers. Anything is possible! At least next time you'll be monitored etc.

If there is a next time. Really re thinking what I said. DH is being a moron.

Lol aren't all of them(DH) at some point?
hehe I had to giggle at that one
The only advice I can give you Lysndan is that if/when you are ready to ttc make sure you are taking the supplements etc before you start. I have friends that started on things (meds, just can't remember what exactly) prior to pregnancy to help prolong PE occurring.
Yep, definately hun. That's what we were advised. Folate (prescription strength), baby asprin and possibly a blood thinning injection (depending on results from blood tests) and a pregnancy multi will be started about 6 months prior to ttc.
That and my iron levels have to be pretty spot on. And I have to be on clomid most probably. My body is just not quite strong enough to ovulate every month lol
But, not thinking about doing it yet. Frick, after the m/c I don't even want sex lol

I'm scared of having another premmie, but it's not really likely as Hannah was a planned c/s due to severe IUGR. And it's rare for bubs with gastroschisis to go past 37 weeks. That's usually the cut off. Alot of mum's actually go into natural labour at 35-36 weeks. It's amazing how your body knows.
The decision to TTC was a tough one. We knew there was a chance of gastoschisis reoccuring.
Has anyone requested their medical records for the birth? I want those pages of info. The debrief just wasn't enough.

Yep, I requested both my boys birth and nicu notes . I wrote them a letter requesting the files along with a copy of my drivers licence theirs and my birth certificate. Ring kemh just to double check though :) it didn't cost me a thing either.

Hey Serenity how is your pregnancy going? Had my morphology scan today & bub is doing fine. Had a huge tightening all through scan. Also the dr had them check cervix & other stuff to make sure it's not dilating yet.
So far so good.

Hoping that everything goes very smoothly for you, Chrispe and you make it as close to term as possible.
Hannah is walking everywhere, her latest obsession is talking on the phone. She has a few different toy phones and she just wanders the house saying "Yeah, yeah, yeah, who is it? Yeah" and other babble and lots of laughs. I don't know who she is talking to. Someone she likes, as yesterday she grabbed her phone and said "Yeah, yeah, oh yeah baby."
She's going through a real fussy stage at the moment in regards to eating.
Seeing her surgeon for another review in the next few weeks, hopefully.
AFM: Bub is going well, measuring right on track for 28+4w. So am I, which is awesome as I only measured at 25w when I had DD at 34w. And Bub was head down, other amazing thing. DD was breech from 20w.
Placenta is still low-ish but OB happy. Getting it checked at 34w.
Hannah's APGARs were 9 at 1min and 9 at 5min. Which is the only reason we were allowed quick cuddles before she left.
Thanks Charlotte :) congratz on your pregnancy! Great to hear it's on track, Fingers crossed you also have a healthy term bub!

She's going well, apart from her reflux. She's still vomity after feeds etc... Hopefully she is better by the morning. I hate seeing her throw up.

Hey all, havnt been in for awhile :( just realised im 21 weeks today so its flying though im not really paying attention, keeping fingers crossed he/she comes no earlier than august so not too early and managed to keep gender a surprise at the scan yay me
Sent from my iphone, so may not make sense
And almost 23 weeks now! WOWSERS! I'm hoping you get to at least end of August :D
I have so much going on atm, kids are doing well, DS1 is doing fantastically at school. He has a paed (5 adjusted age!!) visit this week. DS2, we have a few concerns with him going to get a referral to a paed, we would like to eliminate CP as being the cause of some leg issues he's having. Poor bugger falls over so much :( he's got a podiatrist (who is also an orthopaedic surgeon at the children's hospital) appointment this week too as well as audiology. The speechies want to eliminate hearing as part of the speech issues. DS2 will be 3 next month... scary stuff!
Woo hoo Serenity, pregnancy is going fast here too! I'm 23+3 today & have been telling bub that it's not allowed to come any earlier than August!
Early Kids
Hope the podiatrist finds out what's up. My DS1 used to fall over his own feet all the time (he was a term bub- so not a prem issue) took him to the Pod & found out it was pideon-toed-ness. I have it, & we've since found out it's because our hips are slightly my rotated around & cause the foot to point inwards. Mine is a hereditary hip condition. The Pod I saw said DS1 would grow out of it.
Hope yours is something simple.
Hey all 27+5 today...keep ur fingers crossed fro me i want to last 7-8 more weeks....my earliest was born 2.5 weeks from now so just trying not to stress and take it easy though have been getting alot of pain at night in my back, ribs and SPD problems again along with trouble breathing grrr just keep reminding myself theres only 8 weeks to go, measured 950gm at my scan at 26 weeks so all well on that front and have another scan on the 11 july
He serenity, long time.
All sounds very familiar, fingers crossed we both get a least another 8 weeks!
In some ways I'll be happy to get to august (34 weeks)
Yeah august for me is 33-37+2 so im hoping for the end of august if i make 35 weeks i will be happy
Sent from my iphone, so may not make sense
:) yup totally.
Hey Serenity do you tend to have short labours too? (like under 4hrs)
Just curious. Mine have been 6hrs, 4hrs, then 1.5hrs.
I wonder how Charlotte is going?
yeah chrispe mne were 6,5 then 20 min, then 7 cm in 10 min but ecsec....
At the stage now where DS2 was born....glad ive made 30 weeks and havent had any BH or anything which is good cos i dont get them unless its the weeks before labour starts....so keep ur fingers crossed for me im now tryng to reach the DD2 mark at 32 weeks
I'm here! Little Colby came at 39+4w.
Going to do a birth story in the next few days...
Whoops! Vomit to clean up....
FX for you Serenity!
My DS2 was born at 33+3
Had a start of false labour with this one at 27+2. Have had huge BH all the way through, but I got BH with of mine. Found out from chiropractor the reason they've been worse this time is my round ligaments are overly tight. So now have to go back to chiro each week for adjustments (the new chiro I'm seeing specialises in pregnancy chiro)
Other tests & ultrasounds are still looking good, that this bub will stay put, but we all know how quickly that can change! So happy made it to 31 weeks!
2 more weeks & this little (who is looking very big on ultrasound) dude will beat his bro!
Btw congrats again Charlotte!
yay charlotte....
i am aiming for last week in august cos dd1 is early sept, and we have a july, sept, oct and nov, so got a gap to fill :)
I'm here with a 35 weeker! She is doing well, just feeding issues and low blood sugars. Breathing fine on her some. This arvo her temp was going a bit funny / low and sometimes she gets dusky hands and feet, but she should be fine. Born 5lb11, so a big prem!
Congratulations Maruschke! My little fella was a 34 weeker and only 1.9 kilos - your little girl is huge! Well done!
I hope she's home soon.
My dd2 was a 34 weeker 6pound 1 or 2745 g
DD was a 34weeker and 3lb 12oz, or 1698g
OLP- wow that is big for 34 weeks! How long will you be in for?
I am happy a crappola afternoon. Not long after I left her for a nap, her BSL dropped again and they had to put a cannula in her foot to pump her with glucose :(. You should see her hands and feet, COVERED in bruises from being stabbed. Heartbreaking. But she did do her first poo which I guess is a relief.
Then I was told that most SCN mums choose to go home and just attempt BF once a week until their bub is strong enough. I had no idea. They said it is a potential that she wont BF until she is term. Not sure I have the ability to leave her for 4 weeks. Just ugh...
They begin to develop suck reflex between 35 and 36 weeks. You will notice her click around this time. One day she won't the next day bam shell do it. Been in for 2 weeks so far hopefully only one more week as she's getting better at sucking. If she's able to continue putting her at your breast at least every 2nd feed if for nothing then associating breast with food.
Yeah she's a big prem. they predict she would have been close to 4kg if I went to term. My first was 1.6kg when born at 30 weeks.
It's a long but worthwhile journey
Have you considered a dummy?? It really helped DD develop her sucking reflex, even when she wasn't on oral feeds.
She isn't interested in a dummy at all (or my finger, or a syringe of colostrum). She just has no clue what to do with it yet.
She will. She will instantly click you watch.
Ugh, I leave her for 2 hours for a nap and her BSLs drop again? She is on 8 units of glucose an hour. Gah. Stabilise little girl.
She will be positive. Nap while you can and keep up your expressing.
Sending lots of vibes, I hope DD2 stablises soon.
Hugs maruscke, my DS2 was 33+3weeks (2.750 kg) lol no body told me about BF once a week! He was Gav fed every 3 hrs, but if he was awake we would try & BF. He came home (early release program) at 36weeks. If you keep trying most will BF between 35-37 weeks.
Try to be easy on yourself- having a baby in the SCN is never easy. Fx
