I've just caught up on all the news!! How wonderful infinity!!!! What a little fighter you have, she has done so well!! Your strength also continues to amaze me. I'm so glad things are going well.
I was in tears of joy for you reading about your little girl's special day, it must have been wonderful to take her out in the sunshine. Wishing you the best for the next few weeks, to find the strength to make it to the end of this very difficult time and take your beautiful girl home to your family xxxx
I'm so pleased that things are starting to fall into place now. hopefully not long now and you'll have your darling princess home with you where she belongs xx
That's fantastic news Infinity! Yay for boobies!! And yay for the reversal op so soon too. She is such a little trooper that I'm sure she will come through with flying colours and be home with you in no time. She is doing so well with her weight gain too.
Goodness me, its been so busy for us. I haven't had time to breathe this week, never mind coming in here to post! Finally I find myself at home for an evening with some time to sit down. Ahhhh bliss.
Its been a very busy and interesting week for us. One of the more *interesting* paediatricians that runs the Unit has kept us on our toes for the past 5 days or so in relation to DDs surgery. Whilst her surgeon is ready to operate, this paed didn't seem to agree - so we've spent the last few days getting mixed messages, poor communication and lots of stress at the hands of people following 'hunches' would you believe. Essentially this paed wanted to let DD keep growing for a bit longer before they close her stomas. She had a few days last week where she stacked on lots of weight quickly and he though if we could keep her growing like that then we'd be mad to operate now. But those few days of growth seemed to just come out of nowhere and it was almost a fluke because it hasnt continued. She's gone up and down and plateaued again so that argument doesn't really stand anymore. Cut a long story short, today it all came to a head and after another small weight gain overnight the decision has been made to go to surgery this Wednesday as per the original plan. DD is ready, her stomas need to be in good shape and one of them is starting to prolapse out a bit so that's a risk to her bowel. Her growth is being stunted because of the simple fact that she has an ileostomy - once she's back together her growth should get back on track and we can't afford to see her weight remain static.
I've feel like I've been on this merry-go-round of opinion, advice, emotion all rolled into one. We really didn't need the diversion but I guess they're just being thorough. That's the way I'm looking at it through my delusional rose coloured glasses right now so that's ok LOL! I'm just glad we can prepare for Wed with more certainty now.
Didn't help either that some twit crashed into me in the hossy car park last week either. All her fault, she just reversed straight into my car while I was waiting for a park, despite me beeping my horn A LOT to alert her that I was behind her. Major pain in the bum but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really rate a mention right now. My insurance co organised a hire car for me which has been a great help.
So keep DD in your thoughts for Wednesday. Unsure about timing as yet but we'll know more tomorrow when the surgeon & anaesthetists come round to brief us about everything. I'll try and pop in to let you all know.
I'm sure she will come through the surgery just fine - she's already fought so hard to get where she is, and she is so strong now she's not going to let surgery stop her now
