No one uses J&J cos it sucks, is too harsh and causes rashes.
Don't beleive the hype when they say "90% of hospital use J&J, cos they DON'T!

i agree J & J isnt the best, though it does smell good! :-) we use QV wash from the chemist as it is natural and gentle on the skin. there are also other similar products at the chemist to choose from.
We use very little even now as a toddler. My DS had horrible reactions to the J&J 'sleepy-time' bubblebath - wow so not sleepytime at our house. Try the Method baby (Woolworths) or Baby Ghia range - lovely stuff free of parabeans, petroleum based prodcuts (which J&J is full of) and SLS - sodium lauryel sulphate - not sure on the spelling - if you can look for ones that have do SLS or plant based/cocconut derived SLS it is much better. You can also find some botiques that sell a bath oil with chamomile or something gentle like that if bub has dry skin but really when they are crawling around getting dirty plain water will be fine
Saram- do you know if the Method stuff is tested on animals? sorry OT, but i love the smell oftheir marshmallow bath stuff but only want to use it if not tested on animals.
star child- i love the Gaia products.
so has everyone been using baby products from day #1 or have you waited until baby was 5 months??
I just used water most of the time. It's not like they're getting very dirty.
The method products are nice when you want to wash their hair. I'm not a fan of anything that is highly perfumed - I like my babies to smell of baby not orange flower and vanilla bean.
They're 3&4 now and they still use mainly water and only a tiny amount of method for their privates. I only use water except on my armpits and to wash my hands unless I've got super dirty somehow. We pay a fortune for soaps that strip our skins and then another fortune for moisturisers to try and replace what we've just lathered off.
Gaia or Avado, both you can get from ColesI love them!

I know everyone raves about the chemical free stuff but honestly...not a fan at all. Most are soooo heavily perfumed. I remember trying the Gaia stuff on DS when he was a baby and it is one of the most unsettled nights I've ever had with him so it wasn't just me who didn't like the over powering smell! Never again. I was checking out the Ecostore (I think that's what it's called??) the other day and same deal, really heavily perfumed.
I must admit, I love the smell of the J&J bedtime bath and used it a lot with DDNever had an issue with her using it, her skin was great. DS has more sensitive skin so we use plain old water here now, plain old olive oil for moisturiser.

We still just use plain water at 12 months. DS still puts most of his bath toys in his mouth and sucks on washclothes, so I don't like the idea of his ingesting anything apart from water. After his bath I will put sorbalene or a nice oil on him to help moisturise him. I don't think I will use anything else in his bath until he's old enough to want something else, or the water isn't getting him clean.
I do use J & J shampoo because its only on his head really briefly and I like the fact its "no tears" and it smells yummy and makes his hair soft and shiny! And I take him out the bath straight after using it. And I got heaps as gifts!!![]()
MiEssence produces a baby wash that is hardly perfumed at all.
Natural Instinct have a bath wash that has lavender so is good for night time.
Natural Oil Workers have bubble baths which are great fod older kids.
Gaia make nice gentle products which are a great price too!!
I use a small amount of MiEssence baby creme bath for DD2 about every third wash.
DD2 has used all of the above and all are great IMO.
I will be trying Gaia baby products when this baby comes. I am trying to stick to as few chemicals as possible which is why I will be avoiding J&J product.
