hehe, yeah well my plans didn't go to plan, I thought I had plenty of time to get organised, but little miss decided to arrive more than 6 weeks early throwing all of our plans into dasarray!!
We got the car seat fitted a week after her birth, she didn't come home until day 11, we picked up our Bugaboo - finally, 2 days before she came home as we are using the basinet for her to sleep in.
We have ordered the cot, chest of drawers/change box on top, Mali Euro, they should be here is about 6 weeks, but no huge rush.
We have presents everywhere, as she came 2 days after her baby shower and then we got reshowered with gifts in hospital. House looks like a bomb has hit it but am hoping to get some sorting out done today!!
We also didn't have any clothes to fit her - 1 x 0000, everything else was bigger, so the family had to go out and get a heap of 00000 and 0000, she will be in the 00000 for a while.
I have paintings to hang, I have packed all the bigger clothes into boxes for the meantime until the new drawers arrive, as we wont be needing them!!
Hmmm anyone free to come and help me

Beema, she's beautiful congrats and sounds like your bundle of joy is going to be one lucky girl!
Mellys, Yeppie and it'll all be worth it, once your in!
Satya, sounds like your getting there, it's amazing how much you've gotta move to clear out as room!
Lozza, wow your organised, I've slowly been buying some clothes and still got the breast pump to go! But everything else is pretty covered.
Beckibee, thanks for the advice, I'm also going kidsline I want the Zanbiar set tho, fell in love with it about 6 weeks ago in toys r us.
Wow it seems everyones organised, so glad I posted this thread it's been great to see what everyones bought and the advice has been so helpful. Wishing you all the best on your nursery plans.
I started buying baby clothes and wraps etc (everything is white) about a year ago, when I was TTC, but I haven't bought any furniture yet.
Next week I have my 19 week scan, and I want to know what we are having so we (I) can start to plan the decorating theme for the nursery.
Like almost everyone, the nursery has been a junk room/ office/ sewing room until recently, and we have had to through out so much stuff! We both also pruned our book collections (his science/ fantasy, mine crime novels and literature) so we could make some room for the baby. We have a spare room set up with a queen bed and that's full of my stuff for sewing, so now I have no-where to actually sew....I make such as mess when I'm sewing!
Anyway, I have wanted to the Boori Sleigh for about 12 months, and my husband has been resisting it- he doesn't like the solid ends. If it's a girl, I'm going to insist, but if it's a boy I might be happy with the classic. I'll get the matching change table but will try to get on ebay. The nursery has a BIR and also a jarrah-stained cabinet that I can hang baby clothes in the top and drawers below. Also, I might get the Matilda cradle, as baby's room is upstairs, and ourr is downstairs, and I don't want to have to traipse up and down stairs 6 times a night!
I'm keen to go with a mostly white a splashes of red theme- something suitable for a modern house. I definitely don't want any Pooh or other licensed characters, but imagine I will get some as presents so will do my best to be gracious. Sorry, but I just don't like the Pooh!
Am building a list of what I want so I can bargain best price and buy it all at once and get it delivered. i don't like to pay full price for anything!
I decided to go to Baby Bunting and just check out some stuff but I accidentally stayed there for 5 hours and picked out everything.
I went for the Boori Country Sleight cot, with draws and change table. Fell in love with is straight away. I bought the pram, car seat, bath, sheets, theme for the nursery, towels, lamp, monitor....pretty much "everything' I was really happy with my purchases. I completed a registry as I'm having a baby shower but I want to purchase the bigger items myself.
Now it's just a matter of paying this lay-by off and have the baby shower and I'll be set.......we've been cleaning every weekend because the spare room has so much crap in it. We need to clean the other rooms to make more room for the other things. Slowly we're getting there........
I started buying 'white' and 'yellow' things mostly bonds wondersuits etc. when I first found out I was expecting. As for the nusery, i am still officially waiting to start her nursery as we moved twice in the past year and was in a rental property when she was born, finally we will be moving into our own home and I will be able to paint the walls pink!!!!
I purchased the main things like cot, pram, car seat around 3 months before her birth.
Hi everyone, congratulations on your purchuses, sounds like you've been busy!
Fingerscrossed, my hubby was the same with closed in end cots but I managed to find one that was only closed in at one end and he was happy to compromise with that! So we both sort of got what we wanted!
Queenb1979, Wow you sound like me, I can't help but get excited everytime I walk into a baby store or baby section! Congrats on picking out all your things in 5 hours tho, don't think I could have done that!
Babushka Doll, Wow Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl, sounds like you're hanging to paint those pink walls! Hope all goes well and you're in soon!
Snoopea...... I couldn't believe I did it either. It's amazing how you change from looking at clothes/shoes for yourself & now it's all about the baby. I love it......everytime I see baby stuff I'm there. I went to Bonds on the weekend and saw the most cutest jump suits. My husband just smiled and said you have plenty of time to shop
wow queenb, I'm jealous - hubby and I have spent countless hours perusing baby stores and so far, all we've bought is a pram!! But it's fun, and I totally agree how you swap from shopping for clothes etc for yourself to shopping for baby. My bub's is gonna be betta dressed than me I'm sure
I'm actually struggling with buying a cot tho - I love the sleigh style one in Toys R Us for $700 but hubby's not prepared to spend that much, so we're probably looking around the $300-$500 mark - anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?
Mellys - considering I spent so long at Baby Bunting I did see cots around that price range and if you do see something you like they will give you a discount. I loved the Boori Sleigh and went for a $600 cot instead, however when I took hubby there to show him what I chose and what I wanted he went for the Boori LOLOL poor thing is doing lots of overtime now
thanks for you help queen - i live in nsw tho, and i checked on baby bunting website and i can't find any details on whether they deliver interstate or not.
the boori sleigh cot is gorgeous - it's just the style I'm after and is similar to the one in Toys R Us which was on special for $700 which was half price and included the change table - think I'll just have to convince hubby that it's worth it - I mean we'll have it for years and it will be a hand me down to all the other children we have....hmm if i can just come up with a few more reasons, i might be on the way to getting my sleigh cot
I thought Baby Bunting was all over the country. What a shame. If the one at Toys R Us is similar then go for it. Just tell hubby that it's your first baby and you want to spoil it Also you'll use it again for your other babies right? then sell it on e-bay once you're done Good luck, let me know how you go
