My DS isn't that old, and i'm assuming he'll be walking most of the time by then too.. but we have had a LOT of use out of our toddler seat. Sometimes I wish we had a double pram (especially if we're out all day, coz then both of them could sleep iykwim). We have a Valco runabout with the toddler seat on the front. It's very convenient, and I just leave it folded up on the front when not using it. The only things I have against it are in the heat of summer there's no sun protection for the toddler, and yeah, he can't really sleep in it. But it has worked very well for us
I agree with Liz re the Runabout/Valco and the sun - however it is easy to go from one seat to two - we bught the toddler seat when DD came and DS loved it.
My DD will be 3.5 when this bub comes, but she is teensy (like 12kg!!) and won't mind sitting up there if need be. My DS was about 17 kgs at 2 when DD was born so weight wise it was still ok but you could notice the weight shift.
Thanks guys, I will look into it. DD is only 13 kilos so she's not going to be a huge weight. I just know how much she gets distracted and I would be worried about losing her. THanks again xo
i have the valco runabout setup with toddler seat too and i has been great. As for the sun issue you can get a hood that fits over the toddler seat - we have one as we were still in Townsville when no.2 was born and it worked really well at keeping the sun off - i think it was only about $30. I don't use the pram much at the mo as both boys walk everywhere - or get put in a trolley when shopping - but it's about to get a whole lot more use and im really happy that we have the tod seat for when Wills does get tired. We did also have a side by side pram - maclaren for when they were younger for the day trips so they could both sleep but didn't end up using that too much as it was so wide and not as easy to push as the three wheeler.
I have uploaded a picky in the gallery of the pram with sun hood - although it is closed as we were under cover in a train station - but you get the idea!
