I had half my nursery items before I even conceived!! It's totally up to you really - I chose to try and spread the cost over as long a time period as possible to ease the financial strain, and that's worked really well for me, I'm nearly totally done at less than 30 weeks!

Myself and DH (well, myself more or less) didn't want to buy anything for bub until after the 20wk scan, even though my MIL and friends had bought us stuff anyways by 15/16wks - ours was a 'just in case' thing for us, though I guess it's personal preference

It's up to you babe. With Darcy I had the fear factor and bought nothing...DH did but I didn't. I did religiously out money away every pay though.
With baby2 we were a looong time ttc and I started straight away. But sadly that bub passed at the start of the2nd tri, and so the fear came back.
Then came Nate...I was more cautious but not as bad as Darcy.
There ain't nothing wrong with a spot of window shopping though! Half the fun really!!

I would wait a little while and just buy the basics as you will get given a lot of stuff and I bought a lot of stuff I've never used...

    Whenever you are ready

My advice though is why not pop down to Babies Galore and Baies R us and whatever other babies stores there are around you and pick up their catalogues. Then you can take them home and circle and write out your wish lists. I guarentee you will change your mind a thousand times.

Also if you really want to go out shopping for baby, go and buy a couple of nice baby blankets or a special teddy. DP and I went to build a bear and made a special teddy or our little one when she was still in my tummy.
