My advice though is why not pop down to Babies Galore and Baies R us and whatever other babies stores there are around you and pick up their catalogues. Then you can take them home and circle and write out your wish lists. I guarentee you will change your mind a thousand times.
Also if you really want to go out shopping for baby, go and buy a couple of nice baby blankets or a special teddy. DP and I went to build a bear and made a special teddy or our little one when she was still in my tummy.
I think everyone is different when it comes to their time to buy & set up.
For me personally, I don't like to do anything until the last minute. I only just got the pram & some other little things last week... and nothing is set up as yet (apart from a bassinette downstairs)
I will set things up properly around 35-36 weeks.
yeah see i like the idea of the catalogs as im orgininaly from melbourne im used to haveing sooo many shops available to me but since moving to adelaide theres a limit to shops here so i want to look around and take my time, but i also want the cot , change table and tall boy set up before im to far ahead as i dont want at 38 weeks to be trying to put everything together with my partner just before i pop.
Also im just so damn excited !
side note : anyone know when this image verification thing stops its annoying me
i'm busting to start buying and planning.. but am being so over cautious...
I've found a loop hole though! Grandma and Nanna! I've relayed my fears of m/c to both of them and how i don't want to 'jinx' myself, but there are 'sooo many good prices on winter clothes etc'.. then they took it upon them selves to start buying for me!! they're even storing it all until i'm ready.. hee hee! i didn't say these things with a view of getting stuff bought.. but bonus!
We put most of the nursery furniture on layby after our NT scan came back all clear. We picked up the layby at about 22 weeks and the nursery was setup within a couple of weeks.
It is definitely personal preference. I was like you, so excited and found it hard not to rush out and buy everything. But like one of the other girls said, look at the baby shops and their catalogues first and get an idea of what you want then make some purchases when you're ready.
As Alibaby suggest I would recommend putting a set amount of money aside for a few months and start researching the various products on the market.
Also look at second hand cots, tallboys change tables etc so you have an idea of what they retail for second hand. You may be able to pick up something thats practically perfect that is a second. I would suggest buying new mattress and linen though but thats just me. All my furnishings are seconds and seriously you couldn't tell.
My nursery has been set up and re arranged 3 times since Nikita died. DH and I have only brought a baby monitor this pregnancy - we are waiting until we get to 30 weeks before we go too nuts on linen and stuff, we are a little paranoid though given our history.
When is the right time?? Essentially thats up to you the right time is different for everybody.
i waited till 15 weeks and i only bought face washers and a few outfits at 20 weeks i started to buy everything else didnt buy a cott or anything else till he was born i was pretty paranoid
oh NaeNae i feel for you, ive had alot of friends go through the misscariages and stuff thats why im also so worried about going and buying baby stuff.
We (well my partner) has decided we shall keep it a secret from family till im 3 months to be safe and make sure everything is ok, We are haveing a ultrasound tomorrow so hopefully we can at least see a little blobby and a heart beat.
and im doing my online blog on here and trying to take it easy ive had some pretty bad cramps today which is a little scary.
