my girlfriend has a kingparrot one, i am quite jealous LOL she is able to wheel it around her place with NO drama, if i had the money i would DEF get one. sadly we are trying to save money everywhere we can, we were given a white frilly bassinet on wheels thatw ill do the job perfectly, which i am totally fine with and am VERY grateful for but if i could have a choice it would def be a kingparrot.

I have a Valco bassinette that is supposed to attach to a pram. I don't have the pram, but it does have a stand for it and it has wheels. It is nice and light and portable, but still has lots of room for bub.

Prams and pram accessories are a good option to consider instead of "furniture" type bassinettes.

    Lenny,
just a quick reply to let you know that I obsessed over the Kingparrot basinette. Once I found it I was in love and it suits us perfectly. Getting it shipped up here proved difficult at first but for $200 it is a great quality piece of furniture and nothing at all frilly (actually anything but and wheels like a dream. We got it sent up from our nearest Babies Galore in Townsville (400km away) and it only cost an extra $25. we ordered on the Friday, it arrived on the Tuesday and is gorgeous, made from native plantation timber. I don't have the wee one to fill it yet either but I'm actually just looking for sheets to fit it and stumbled across your post. Good luck

Thanks to everyone. It's been a very informative read for me. Haven't decided 100% yet - but I have a loooong time to go. Good chance to keep an eye on ebay now that I have a few ideas.

Murph - You'll have that bassinette filled really soon

I too deliberated over the choice of bassinet for WEEKS and spent hours and hours on the web looking at them. In the end we bought the KP white bassinet and I LOVE it and am so happy with my choice. It's very non-frilly and simple (I am not a fan of the frills at all), lower to the ground (and therefore more level with the bed) than the organic ones on the wooden frame (? coco and seed organic cradle) and the sides are made of a mesh fabric so you feel a bit closer to baby and can see through a little bit. We bought it at the same shop as the pram so got 10% off so $180. I have been practising wheeling it around and it is super easy!

I am still waiting for my arrival to put him in it, but my friend actually stopped off at the baby shop on the way back from the hospital to buy the same one because they wanted something for by the bed after having the plastic one in hospital, and she loves it too!

    Good luck with your choice!

    Hi Lyra,
just thought you might like to know that I found a way cool fitted canopy to fit the King Parrot bassinett. It was exactly what I had in mind and is made by a New Zealand company who are now selling in Aus. If you google co-sleeper, they are very cheap on sale at My Bonding Baby. It's like an umbrella canopy you put over your snags at a barby , only it attaches snugly to your cot. Mine is hopefully arriving on Friday in the mail so if you are interested I'll tell you whether it's worth getting. I'm very excited...small things hey?

Yep, Lenny, not long now til I fill mine up...very surreal.

    Happy hunting.

    Hello again,

just a word of advice on the co-sleeper canopy I recommended for the King Parrot....don't do it!! I can't send mine back as I got all the specifications on size and description from another site which I thought was really helpful and confirmed my decision to buy it. It was all wrong. this canopy is way too big and is not made to keep out mozzies, let alone sand flies. I can't very well blame the company I bought it through as there was no false advertising, just some other dodgy character who I can't track down now.

Haha, so guess what I have just bought myself? A whopping great big food canopy for the snags Great for keeping out flies.

I'm not into the frilly stuff either. DS ended up sleeping in the bassinette attachment to his pram for the first 5-6 weeks or so. We had a cradle given to us that I thought he would use, but he didn't seem to like it early on. The pram worked one night, so we stuck with it. It was cosy enough for him feel more secure I think, and didnt take up much space in our room. And being on the pram, we could move it around easily and quickly (and silently too!) Some of those bassinete wheels are really loud I've found.

    Good luck
