Awwwww kit so cute what a good looking little man.
My ella is such a porker now i was looking at her newborn pictures and she was so tiny and now chubba chubba.
Oh hi chatterboxes. It's a madhouse in here, I see!
Gotta put the princess to bed. BBL to catch up.
Kit~ omg i just looked at your pictures they are so cute.
I feel like the worse mom in the world today with the hoilday here. My bf kids were over and its always so hectic they dont listen blah its a long story. But i was giving honor a bath and when i lifted her out of the tub i thought i had a good grip on her and she slambed her head in on the spout. I started to cry she was screaming my bf yelled at me for getting upset
Mildez - I've never heard your full story either! Thanks for sharing that with us. Ikwym struggling with the thought of your family plans being influenced by your fertility. Ok so my fertility is fine and nothing was damaged as a result of DS's birth, but DP is sooooooo against having another now, so I guess that's it for us! :( I shouldn't be thinking about being pg again already but it does make me a little sad that little Axel might be the first and the last born. I loved being pg so much (thank god it was so enjoyable since the ending was so bad) it makes me sad thinking I may never get to experience that joy again. About the co-sleeping, I swore I wouldn't do it.... and here I am, snuggled up with my little man every morning from about 4am onwards. I agree, they're only this little once.... we should enjoy it! I just read on to your whooping cough vent... you poor thing. I so hope it's not whooping cough but mummy's intuition is usually pretty spot on. I'm so sorry the hospital have been very little help, gosh I know that feeling. Keep us updated...
Tegam - Want to come and clean my floors? LOL, you sound like you've had a lot of practise. I do have a mop though..... hehehe. Your kidlets are just beautiful, thanks for the pic! We'll miss you during your BB break. Don't stay away too long!
Ferrals - Oh, I wish Axel would behave long enough in his bouncer to get anything done... he gets bored of it very quickly and starts to fuss within 15 minutes max. And forget about moving it around, he'd just chuck a narna no matter what I did lol. Sounds like Ella knows you mean business, lol. You mop and vacuum every day? :o You're a machine! The last time I mopped was when I was about 36wks pg..... eww. I do sweep and vacuum though lol. I'm also insanely jealous that Ella puts herself to sleep on her own! Axel won't have a bar of that. I've tried. Probably not hard enough though hehe. In his defense, he does go down reasonably easy if I give him a cuddle and sit in a quiet room with him for 30mins or so. That's a lot better than he was! Up until 9 or 10pm screaming non stop between 5 and 10.. agh. Learning to 'read' the cries is definitely important. I think I'm getting the hang of it. I checked out your pics, Ella is GORGEOUS!!!
BW - Lol, I will probably get Axel to 'help' with housework by painting the fence with water.. and other ingenious ideas. Knowing him though he'll want to be in my face REALLY helping. Oh the things I have to look forward to! I must admit I'm the same some days, if we're fed and clothed then that's all that happens. Sometimes you just need to rest. So if it's ok for me to do that, then it's definitely ok for you to have a few days 'off' here and there!
Murraycod - Oh how I have missed you!! Welcome back! I was worried something bad might have happened since you disappeared like that. Can't wait to hear all about Alexis.
Kellie - Welcome!
Reet - I'm glad you've got your sisters to help, that'll make things a lot easier for you. Trust you to mow the lawn instead of sleep lol. I could give Axel to DP for a while but he gets home from work so late most nights. Sometimes 7pm. By then it's almost bedtime for our little man.... and I do bedtimes, mostly because he settles down better for me and we're trying to establish a new nighttime sleep routine. Definitely no going out to do anything at that time of night.. I find DP doesn't do anything 'wrong'. Except talking to Axel when he's meant to be sleeping lol. I made a conscious choice never to criticize his parenting because I know how it'd make me feel. If I see something I think isn't working, I just suggest something else, and tell him how I handle it. He seems to value my input and always tries what I suggest. LOL@ the full nappy though haha. I seem to always get the pooey ones lol. I'm so excited to hear bfing is going so well for you, too. That's one thing I'm actually quite sad about. I feel like I didn't try hard enough. :( Sounds like we have a similar night routine though, Axel spends the early hours of the morning sleeping on me in my bed otherwise I'd have to get up at 4.30-5am... no thanks! I feel the same about the transition to his own room, so I've started putting his bassinette in there for daytime sleeps (if he has one!) and the first part of the night while I'm still up and about. Around midnight we wheel him into our room so he's right there next to us. Seems to be working so far! It sounds like little Sienna is growing really fast! I'm going to hop on fb and stalk you a bit so I hope there's new pics hehehe. That reminds me, I need to take some pictures of Axel in the nudie, lol..... your nudie Sienna pics are just gorgeous!
Angelfish - Of course you're welcome in here!
Kit - I love the sound of your routine.... sounds so peaceful and serene. :) And 10hrs through the night?! OMG :o jealous! lol Your little Sammy tiger is just beautiful..... awwwwww!
Audax - This thread is kickin'! LOL, I feel like I have my gang back :) So lovely to login and see so much action.
AFM - Bedtimes at my house are getting a lot less stressful. My little sweetie is starting to accept that 7.30-8pm is bedtime, and goes off to sleep without too much of a struggle. Sometimes he rebels and I have to make a 2nd or 3rd attempt, but that's okay. I know that he WILL sleep, because I will NOT bring him back out into the lounge. If it takes 2hrs to get him to settle, so be it. The time is getting shorter though, we're down to about an hour. That includes having his shower with mummy or daddy, having a nice big feed, a snuggle in a quiet room and then off to bed. (rinse and repeat) lol. His physio seems to be going well, his foot has a good range of movement and he LOVES his new physiotherapist. He hated the lady at the hospital and screamed every time she touched him, but this new lady is wonderful. She confessed to me she has difficulty getting pg, and that she's been feeling clucky but thinks she won't be able to have another. I was so chuffed when she said she thinks baby Axel was 'sent to her'. How lovely I have to see her weekly, but that's ok because she's awesome so it's totally worth the money.
Now I have a couple of questions. How does everyone deal with dinnertime? I really struggle to get anything decent cooked because bedtime sort of co-incides with dinner. And if Axel is up at dinnertime, well forget about eating anything because he wants to be held right when my food is ready! So what does everyone else do? I'd love to know.
The next one is about anti-reflux formula. I find Axel is getting a bit constipated on it........ poor little muffin struggles to poo, and when he does it's a big commotion. I gave him 30ml of water with a tiny bit of brown sugar in it the other day and it really helped him, but how often should/can I do that????
Those of you who had a c/s, do you still have a little bit of pain in your incision area?? I still get slight twinges here and there, just wondering if that's all ok.
Lastly, it looks like I'm 'back to normal'. AF arrived last week and only left on the weekend.... talk about over-staying her welcome! I so enjoyed the 'holiday' ..... now I have to remember to keep track of it again. *sigh* Welcome back, AF.. lol.
Sorry for the massive ramble, but you ladies are tough to keep up with as always! Stay tuned for pictures of my little muffin I'll post a link soon.
Here's the link to photos of my bubby boy as promised. I especially love the one the midwife took of DP and Axel a few minutes after birth. I didn't even know she took pictures until I went through my phone later on.

Forshelby-Please dont let that one horrible experience ruin your chance of experiencing a wonderful birth i had 3 fabulous births with my boys and then the horrible experience of Ella's c section aftermath i know every birth is different and you have had a bad one so it can only get better.
And ella is a fab sleeper and so content to be dragged around in her bouncer while i do house work but we still have her grizzly hour every night between 5 and 6pm so i make that her bath time to try and tire her out a bit quicker.
And Axel is your 1st the cries take a while to work out Ella is my 4th so i have got it pretty down pat now and like you said Ella know's when mummy says nigh nigh time it's nigh nigh time lol.
What you wrote about Axels bedtime is what i do if you know they are tired they dont come back out it may take a few trips but they learn there is no point fighting mum.
Ella is a sweety isnt she i would love to be loaded to have just one more but unfortunetly $$$$ do not grow on tree's.
We need to see some pic's of your little man too whats the password.
Angelfish- dont be so hard on yourself us mums are not perfect i still remember the time i closed the car door on my sons fingers i felt like the worst mum but accidents happen thats why they are called accidents we dont intentionally do it so give her lots of kisses and cuddles to make up for it and stop being hard on yourself.
Forshelby- if i am cooking and Ella is awake i bring the boucer into the kitchen and she watches me and if i am eating and she wants her bottle well i just have to reheat my dinner but i try to make sure i do dinner before she is due for a feed or at least prepare it all ready to go.
Anti reflux formula- i switched to normal formula and add a small amount of thickner enough to suit her i started off with 1 scoop and now am down to 1/2 a scoop where the tin recomends 2 scoops.
The brown sugar and water give as often as he needs until his poo's are normal i gave ella some every 2nd day until her poo's were normal and that took about a week.
My c section scar is still sensitive to rub or if i sleep on my belly it feels a little sore still so normal i will post some of my c sections pics later.
My AF turned up yesterday YUK!
And yes the Gang is back yippeee!!!
Oh Ferrals, I would happily go back for another baby. I don't want my only experience with childbirth to be such a brutal one. But sadly DP is dead against it right now. I'm not going to press the issue either, as I was lucky enough to get one! I did say to him he's in charge of how many we have, and that if he said one, I would be satisfied. So I have to be. No going back on that little promise. I am hoping a little though that as Axel gets older he'll want a sibling for him as much as I do. If not, well..... I'll have to deal with it. I am afraid of what another birth might be like, but then I've learned so much, I think I'd be a lot stronger next time around. I definitely wouldn't be just a passenger as I was this time.
Thanks for the info on the reflux formula, and the c/s scar. Good to know I'm meant to feel a bit iffy, and that the brown sugar isn't going to hurt my little muffin. :) Speaking of, he's getting fussy. Time to do his physio exercises and give him a little drink of water. I have no idea how he manages to get those rock hard pebbles out........ lol, I shouldn't laugh!
Oh and the password for my pics is qazwsx
enjoy!
Forshelby- Axel is so cute i love the pic's
Hope your hubby changes his mind my DH would love another one it is me saying NO! at 37 with 3 boys 1 girl and sweet Abbi watching over us and our dreaded 1 in 4 chance of an SLO affected baby i think i am done.

You know Ella has been my only baby that was born with vernix (the white stuff) all over them i was very surprised to see how much she had on her.
I wonder if it's because she has a different dad then the boys had.
You can tell i have nothing better to do today it is absolutely pouring with rain has been all day so i have just stayed home and washed the sheets and ironed all day i have the clothes dryer going and the gas heater so the house is toasty warm.
Ferrals- Ive been meaning to ask u.. when do u go back to work?? Will Ella go into daycare or is ur dh going to take care of her?? Are u dreading going back or will u be glad to get out of the house for a bit??
And no i didnt see that show on tv lastnight.. maybe go to the general chatter section and post a thread in the tv thread asking if anyone else did...???
Hi Audax! Im gonna need to do a bit of chatting to u about cloth nappies! I tried them a few weeks ago and omg! I had a few poo explosions out the sides..plus a couple wet outfits and it put me off a bit! She was also pooing every couple hrs too but its slowed down a lot now thank goodness. This week i am going to start using them again tho... even if its just a couple during the day.. i can do it!!! :)
Angelfish- aww how awful for u, but ferrals is right, accidents happen. Pity ur bf had to go and yell at u.. definitely wldnt have helped :(
Forshelby- no new pics on fb... ill have to put some up cos shes changed a bit since the last ones! mainly just her chubby little cheeks!
I really need to start putting her in the cot in her room for daytime sleeps so she can get used to it but i just love having her next to me on the couch too much! This way i can just stare at her the whole time! haha. It will have to come to an end soon tho once she starts squirming around too much.
I cant believe Axel was crying from 5-10ish! U poor thing! How did u cope?? Ur a super strong woman. Thank goodness Sienna normally only cries cos shes hungry so i can quite easily stop her.. and if its not hunger shoving my bb in her mouth makes her quiet anyway! Im sure thats not always going to be the case tho. A few times shes been windy and has had a good cry, i have felt so helpless but at the same time so frustrated! I normally just pass her to dh when that happens, he has a lot more tolerance and handles it way better. I guess im going to have to learn to handle it tho since hes going to be away! I cant believe u settle him for up to 2 hrs before bed either (another strong woman award to u!) It makes me feel a bit bad hearing that cos i know i just dont have the patience.. and i shld! Thats why i've just let her choose her bedtime so far.. just another bad habit i am going to have to change tho!
Im so glad he is starting to settle down a bit for u. Pls share all ur wise words and little tricks with me when im at my wits end with a screaming baby!
Poor little thing being constipated too, glad the brown sugar does the trick. Its the complete opposite here.. Siennas poos are big explosions a lot of the time! Her nappy gets absolutely covered by this mustard looking stuff! She does enough grunting and carrying on tho when shes pooing that u wld think shes constipated..Not very ladylike at all!
Its so beautiful that the physiotherapist believes Axel was sent to her.. a lot of women in her situation wld probably be a quite resentful.. not on purpose but its hard seeing gorgeous little babies when u want one so much. She must be a lovely lady :)
Please dont feel bad about not bf'ing.. u have a bloody good reason why ur not! U DEFINITELY tried hard enough to keep it up. Im pretty grateful that bfing has worked out so well for me, i am kinda lazy when it comes to stuff like cleaning bottles etc. I wld probably end up with a sick baby cos of my laziness!
Little Axel is so lucky to have a Mummy like u, U really shld be so proud of the great job ur doing xx
AFM- We had a GREAT nite last nite! We went to bed at 1130pm and werent woken until 4.30am! It was amazing! Thats the first time it has happened, its normally every 3 hrs. She also just had a 3 hr long sleep too. Winging it might just be the best thing for us!! Or she just wanted to be good for her daddy since she knew he was leaving today haha. Lets hope she continues with this good behaviour for the next 3 weeks tho! :)
xxx
Oh ferrals i just looked at the pics! How amazing!!
She does have a lot of vernix on her! How early was she born?? I think the earlier they are born the more they have. Sienna came out quite clean.. she had a little bit of vernix on her (i remember it was really hard to scrub off my chest when i had a shower 10 mins later while dh was cuddling her, i later found out it just disintegrates tho so i shldnt have worried!) but no blood. I guess when they are pulling the baby out of it all tho u gotta expect a bit of blood!
The pics are all so beautiful. Thats my one regret.. not getting a full body shot of Sienna when she first came out. Dh only got a couple of my head and her face..lucky he even got those tho.. the ob. had to remind us to pull the camera out!! :)
PS if anyone read this post earlier i only just noticed that a word had been blanked out.. i was meant to write full body shOt but i must have typed it wrong, oops! All fixed now :)
Reet-I go back to work the 1st of August and i will work around DH"s work i wont put her in day care this young i would rather not work my work is pretty flexible i will tell them the days i am available and either day or night and they usually fit me in but it all depends on DH's work if he does days i will do nights and hopefull my sunday shift and if they give me my three 10 hour days thats 30 hours and i will bring home $480 so enough for me to contribute for now.
I would love to leave hospitality and go back to the nursing i started years ago but to be honest i dont think it would be possible i am to far from the uni and the amount of hours study required and the cost is looking to far out of reach.
I forgot to mention before ella spends a lot of cuddle time with me on the lounge or floor when i will lay with her and play and of a night i like to cuddle and rock her for a while it is mummy daughter time i just dont let her fall asleep in my arms once she starts to nodd i put her to bed i dont want you to think a am a cold mum who wont cuddle her baby i cant stop kissing and cuddling her she is so adorable but i do it when she is awake and its her play time ect.
Ferrals- Gosh i never thought that u were a cold mum! Ur a great mummy! I LOVE that ur so good with ur babies :) What ur doing is exactly how i want to be in the very near future! :) Ella is a very lucky little girl!
Oh and thats really good that ur work is so flexible... it makes things a lot easier. I dont think i cld leave my baby at daycare yet either. Has dh found some work??
Reet-Ella was 2 weeks early going by all my u/s datesexcept the 1st she was due on the 30th of march the ivf clinic said the 30th of march but the 7 week u/s said 2nd of april so she was 12-14 days early.
And didnt DH do a great job at the photos and that is only a few of them i said to him when i new i was having a c section that i would miss a lot as my view would be restricted so i said i want pictures of everything do not miss a thing the only pic he didnt get was her being pulled out of my belly he couldnt see there were to many doctors in the way worried about my placenta.
And i didnt mean that i thought you thought that i was a cold mummy lol if that makes sense i just wanted you and the others to know that because i read a lot of this calm parenting and let babies tell you what they want and co sleeping ect and i just think OMG! no wonder these women are exhausted and cant sleep they bragg about it in one sentence that their 2 year old and newborn are in bed with them and then the next sentence is that their sex life is no exsistant and they havent had a full night sleep in 2 years ect ect and here i am with a settled baby feeling out dated like i am to strict but i have a happy content baby DH and i get a good nights sleep and still have our quality time (sex life ) together and i still get my cuddles and kisses from missy moo and i have 3 well ajusted teenagers so it shows it worked with them.
But i dont have a problem with people who do the co sleeping calm parenting thing each to their own i say.
And YES!!!!! DH has some permanant casual work with linfox driving a forklift so good money just not 100% sure of the hours each week.
DO i talk to much lol?
murrycod- i checked out the album of Alexis in your profile i cant believe she is in a jolly jumper already.
Neither can I LOL.............im not ignoring everyone, buisy reading and catching up!! Soooooo much to read OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love you all x
Hmmmm, have been reading away and had no idea what this BBL meant. just catching up on Audax'z post and realise what it means now......giggle....derrrrr
Murraycod i just noticed that our LO's are the same age !
Murrycod-Derrrr is right that teach ya for leaving us lol.
What an awesome night sleep i had Ella went to bed at 7 woke at 3am for a bottle then slept until 7am in time for me to get boys up for school.
The weather here is crap i thought our roof would blow off last night and our yard is a swamp.
Ferrals: I feel bad for not co-sleeping all the time, we did in the beginning but Sammy would try to wiggle down and latch on and it kinda freaked me out, we all sleep better now he's in the cot next to the bed! I can still put my arm around him through the bars, so that's ok. Your kids are all happy, and that's the gold standard!
Murraycod: YAY! Ooooh I'll check out the pics of Alexis :)
Reet: I totally have exploding bosoms in the morning, lol. From about 5am I can't sleep on my stomach, my nose wouldn't touch the pillow! LOL! So amazed that your looking after Sienna alone for 3 weeks, even when it gets hard, remember that your an incredible Mummy :) The more you wash cloth nappies the more absorbent they get, I found the first few times I used mine they leaked through. I was naughty and used eco sposies for the first 12 weeks, too much poo for cloth for me! It's nice to use it now though. We have a separate song for each kind of nappy (I did type one out, but then realised how tragic that was LMAO!)
Forshelby: Physio sounds wonderful, and Axel is super cute! I used to get twinges in my scar sometimes, and I found I got a stitch really quickly (which could be the c-section, or the 3 months of basically not moving, or the extra weight - but I'm blaming the scar!)
Angelfish: Hi!
Umm, I can't remember anymore!
AFM: DH is sick, boooooo!! He was home yesterday, went in today, which I think was ridiculous, so I'm expecting him home tomorrow, lol. I have my first mother's group tomorrow! Really nervous, it's also the first time I've driven alone with Sammy, usually DH comes with us and we all go out together (one car). What if he cries and I crash? Eep! What if the other mother's are weird/mean/wearing high heels??? ARgghhhh!!
Sam Bam is getting to the end of his happy mat time (those darn keys just won't fit in his mouth no matter how hard he tries!)
Love!
Kit-the others mothers are proberbly thinking the same thing so dont worry you will have fun chatting with other mums.
I have to drive all the time alone with ella i drop the boys off to school every morning and pick them up every day and she wakes just in time for me to leave the 1st few times she screamed all the way cause the boys were not there to pop her dummy in so i started talking to her telling her what we were going to do for the day ect and she soon stopped i think she was happy to know she could hear mums voice so now it is a ritual when we are alone in the car i talk to her and she just sits there and coo's and garr's back until we get home or where ever we are going.
And Ella has just started to get her fist in her mouth but it takes a bit of work for her it's so cute to watch.
Ella has been awake in her cot for over an hour just laying there talking to herself and looking at her mobile and toys i have around the cot i have been waiting for her to cry to let me no she has had enough but she seems so happy in there i will just listen on the monitor until she is ready to get up.
Another miserable rainy day to do nothing sooo bored.
Ooooo Ferrals. I love the new pictures of Ella when she was first born. Making me miss my job PMSL. I didn't think I would say that in a hurry. I too think your an awesome mum. Hey my 4yr old is still in bed with us (she starts in hers but comes into ours most nights. I want to be cruel to be kind and lock her in (well threat to lock her in her room with a monitor) to make her stay in there but DH wont let me. He complains about her been in there but he wont let me kick her out either. DD has this huge fear of Witches its a long story but she thinks a witch lives in her build in and if its not in there its looking at her through her window. She is also a sleep walker like DH still is. Also my first was covered in Vernix at 38+5, 2nd at 36+3 had none and Josie has abouit the same as Ella at 37+6. DD #1 isn't to DH.
Forshelby I hope your DP changes his mind down the track to give DS a sibling and you another bubba. I couldn't imagine how it must be for him dealing with what he did for the week plus post Axel's birth. I'm sure it has had a huge impact on how he feels about birth etc. FX in time he is ok with going again. Yes and your right. You don't want your experience of birth/postpartum to be so traumatic.
Will reply more later. I'm having a job to catch up. J has fionally shown some improvement. After she came home from hospital she got worse then she ever was when she was in there. The hospital called and told me to bring her back but anyway I thought I'd see how we went at home and she has only had 3 coughing spasms since waking this morning (and only 2 overnight) and she has only spewed with 2 of those so its a huge improvement. And now she is alert when before she was lethargic. Mine is also not as bad but I'm on antibiotics so maybe she is getting some through the milk. Anyway I don't want to get to excited yet but there does seem to be improvement so woohoo. I've been having these terrible flashes that she stops breathing and they can't revive her. So I'm so pleased there definately isn't more deterioration. FX it stays that way.
Tegam don't stay away for long.
Angelfish we all do things like knocking our bubs head from time to time unfortunately poor little guys. Only this morning my 4yr old did a handstand onto the couch where I was BF J and landed on her head. As she had been warned so many times she wasn't allowed to do it inside and the loungeroom of all places (its our quiet area for the adults and for TV) I smacked her the bad mum I am but instead of getting her I waked J in the head so in the space of less then 10secs she got landed on by her sister and slapped by her mother. Poor little possum hadn't even drawn breath from her first howl (where your waiting for the sound and to breath) before she coped it again. I was so ****ed of at myself and DD then blamed it all on DD (who didn't see me get J) and said look what she did to her. Talk about a bad mother I am. And big DD saw it all and goodness knows what she thought of me accidently getting J and blaming her sister for it all. My poor baby guess it wouldn't have happened if I didn't loose my temper in the first place. Been so stressed with a sick bub and thinking all the things that could go wrong.
Ferrals - Oh hun nobody would think of you as 'cold'. You're parenting with a firm and loving hand, something I think which is sadly not common enough these days! I'm not sure which category I would fall into. I do co-sleep with Axel, but only in the wee hours of the morn. From 7.30-4.30am he's in his bassinette. I'm starting to transition him to his own room very slowly. At 'bedtime' while I'm still up he goes into his bassinette in his room. When he gets up for his midnight feed, I bring him into our room, feed, change, cuddle and then pop him back in his bed. (ok, so he falls asleep on me but I really don't mind because he does it quickly!) Then the next time he wakes up it's feed, change and we cuddle up in bed until I'm ready to get up. Or until he is, lol. I just can't get him out of the early morning snugglefest habit though...... it's like he's willing to compromise, but doesn't want to give it up completely lol. Still I think we're moving in the right direction, and I really don't mind having him in our bed for a couple of hours. It was the all night sleeping upright cuddle-a-thons that were driving me crazy. Enough about me though, CONGRATS on your DH's job... that's so great. I remember you were going through such a hard time for a long time there. Great to see things are getting better for you guys :) Your c/s pics are beautiful too. I wish I got more pictures but it just didn't cross my mind. When I decided to have the c/s I was in so much pain and just kept thinking 'PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY'. How weak of me... :( I wish now that I tried harder. I'd only been in labour for 12 hours. Gah! Ok that's my pity party finished lol.
Murraycod - You could be easily reading for 6 months lol.....
Kit - Oh yeah, I get a stitch soo easily it's ridiculous. I blame DP for walking too fast! hahaha. How exciting you're going to mothers group! I haven't got the kohunas to join a group yet.... I actually don't like being in large groups of strange women. Of course they wouldn't be strangers for long but still.... the idea of it makes me feel really put off. Tell me though, how the heck did you manage to go so long without driving alone with Sammy? It boggles the mind! I was nervous too the first time I had to drive with Axel, and I too thought 'what if he cries?'. The answer to that one my dear, is that he will cry, and you will drive. LOL. Sounds harsh, but he'll get the idea that when he's in the car, mummy can't cuddle him. Axel soon learned that as soon as we got where we were going, I would be right there. Doesn't stop him crying.... but I'm ok with it. I find turning up the radio really loud so he can hear it over his cries helps. He also likes hard cornering LOL. DP used to drive like a nanna when we first brought him home, then one day he 'forgot' we had a baby in the car and drove normally (which is by no means reckless). Suddenly the crying stopped when DP gave it a bit of gas. LOL. We might have a little racecar driver in the making here.
Mildez - I hope DP changes his mind about a sibling for Axel in the future too. But I won't hold my breath, to avoid disappointment. I think he's really traumatised from everything he saw me go through. Even when I came home I needed him to help me get dressed, go to the toilet sometimes... it was awful, but at the same time he was so loving and was a far better nurse than any of the women I dealt with in the hospital! Still, I won't hold my breath. On the up side, Axel will be showered with all our love and everything we can afford for him if he is an only child. I'm so glad your little sweetie is improving. What a scary ordeal for you.. Don't beat yourself up for accidentally whacking little J.... we all make mistakes, and you must be sooo stressed out. Make allowances for that hun.
AFM - I took so long doing persies Axel is crying and I can't update on myself.. lol. Quickie though - He smiled a big gummy smile and actually laughed a little today. I burst into tears it was so beautiful. I'm almost crying just thinking about it. Oooook, gotta go, cuddle time!!
BBL - Just for you, Murraycod lol.
Sam is sick. He was sent home from day care today with the vomits, but has been fine since I've had him home. Just fever, coughs, runny nose... I'm exhausted, he's clingy, so I'll catch up later. Just want to let people know I haven't dropped off the planet!
BW
Forshelby-Dont give up hope that DH might come around my DH and i for that matter were devastated having to end Abbi's pregnancy we knew we were going into delivery with a live baby in my belly and new i would endure a horrible labour and birth and our girl would be born still and that was our doing and to say it was traumatic is a major understatment DH was devastated that i had to go through that and didnt want me to go throught it again when we found out we have the 1 in 4 chance of every pregnancy ending the same way.
We talked and originally decided after the PGD didnt work that we would not do it again but our desire for a baby together and our love of children just won and how could we live the rest of our lives with the regret so we bit the bullet and just held on to hope and we got our princess and me being the strong one when it comes to babies and child birth helped DH cope he knew if i could handle it again then so could he.
BW-how is sam today?
Murrycod-ARE YA DONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!! how much reading do ya need to catch up on girl.
We wantr to here all the goss on what we missed with Alexis.
BW - I hope Sam is feeling better soon
Ferrals - Well said! I do have hope that if I have the strength and courage to go again that he'll realise all he needs to do is support me. But that's a long way off at this stage. I wouldn't want t ttc again for 1-2 years.
Forshelby-At 26 you are still a baby and have plenty of time to enjoy Axel before there is anymore talk of babies for you and your hubby.
AFM-My baby making days are done i have contributed 4 healthy offspring to the worlds population i know DH would be happy for one more but its just to risky for me after Abbi and the effected embryo with PGD i think Ella was our one and only miracle so i am hanging up my uterus for good, NOW! TO GET DH THE SNIP:pray: is another story.
Ferrals - LOL@ you hanging up your uterus..... what a mental image! I realise time is still on my side, but DP is 34 this year, and he doesn't want to be an old man when the kid/s are hitting their prime. I can understand that. He wants to have the energy to interact with him/them. But you're right. Now is the time to enjoy Axel, not 'what if' ourselves to death. :)
Old my ar#e 34 ha! come on have a look at half the parents out there now they are leaving kids until later so there is lot's of over 40 mum's and dad's and this day and age 40 is the new 30 us oldies are not really old like they use to be 20+ years ago 40 was prehistoric now 40 years olds act like they are 20 and 60 year olds are still working and fit and living like their 40 my mum and dad and my DH"s parents are between 58 and 70 and OMG! they are all fit working living it up parents who are never home they are always going out and on holidays they have more of a social life than i do it's embarrassing put's me to shame lol.
I work with a man who became a dad for the last time at 52 his wife was 41 they make me feel great.
Tell your DH to read this then he will feel young again.
*hijack*
Hi Ladies
It's great to see you all doing so well. Congratulations Ferrals and Forselby on your recent arrivals ! xo
Hoooooollley Dooooley you lot can talk!
OK, so the rundown. Eleanor was born in Dcember last year, at 12 days past her EDD (most of you will recall that, because I pestered you all in my post-dates boredom ) She was 4.07kg, and a very very hungry baby, as well as being quite colicky. So she spent her first 6 weeks either on the boob or in the sling, then from 6-12 weeks she would also tolerate playing on the floor with no nappy for a while. She was 4 weeks old when the Brissie floods hit, and we decided not to evacuate, so that was an interesting time. We have travelled with her a fair bit - two trips to Melbourne, one trip to Sydney Gold Coast, Sunny Coast and a 16 day camping odyssey around central QLD. She started solids two weeks ago, and has so far eaten a heap of stuff, and is loving it. Other than that she is fully breastfed. We do a mix of co-sleeping and cot sleeping, depending what she needs.
And yes, Reet, we use cloth nappies! Bummer that those ones failed. They're a bit old, except the little green one. We only used it 7 times, then the 8th time, her leg started turning purple because it was too tight. She is a chubba! Eleanor has only worn one disposable since we left hospital, she did a massive poosplosion, 6 days worth of poo, while we were making an unexpected stop at SIL's house, so ran out of nappies - luckily she had a Bounty bag sample for us!
Ferrals my uterus is retiring also. The silly thing thought it retired 4yrs ago and it took a while to convince it to come out of retirement and do its job again. Wish it wasn't the case but never mind. Going to enjoy what we have which is fantastic and not dwell on the if's. Life is good. Life is very good now :o)
Forshelby your DP needed to see that circus performer on sunrise the other day who became a Dad for the 7th time at age 73. Mine you he didn't look older the 50 and was still performing. Amazing. My body is packing it in. I haven't been blessed with good genes so if I were to go again it would have to be straight away.
J is still trying to cough a lung up. She is kicking around with no nappy on.
I just wanted to pop in and say HI! There are so many new names in here. It is great to see this forum busy with conversation again!
Hi laney-Am i right in congradulating you on a BFP i think it was you i saw in one of the pregnancy threads.
Audax-4.07kg what a big little girl thats about 9lb on the dot isnt it bet she is gorgeous with all the chubba roll's Ella is starting to get a real little fatty now but what do you expect when all she does is sleep and eat lol.
Ella is starting to be a real fusspot with her bottles the last few days :wall::wall:
Hi Laney!
I can't possibly catch up. Sam is slowly getting over his cold, but I also have it. DH does too and is snoring like a buzz saw, but has fortunately taken it upon himself to sleep on the lounge and let me sleep. The revolting Sydney weather at the moment has me in a shocking RA flare and I'm really hating the fact that my liver can no longer tolerate NSAIDs as I could really handle a couple of nurofen to take the edge off and get me back to functional!
I have bloods taken tomorrow and hope like mad that my rheumy doesn't ring me on Tuesday. Paed for Sam on Thursday next week and I think rheumy for me the week after that. Love coordinating between specialists! I have three to juggle now - one for Sam and two for me. Life is fun.
BW
I would love to do a massive reply, but I'm sick too :( DH had the flu and I thought I was safe but 4 days later ta da! I'm sick, really hoping Sammy doesn't pick it up. Honey lemon tea and vegemite toast for me today :(
Hi Laney! Hope you guys are doing well.
BW - juggling specialists sure does sound like fun! I need a new hobby, maybe I should try that?
ferrals - yep, just a spot short of 9 pounds. I was pretty surprised, since I didn't have a massive belly, and never went through that wildly uncomfortable phase. I walked to and from the hospy to have her!
You know what I reckon? Having a kid is tiring no matter how old you are. Another one is in our plans if we can. No idea when though, we're going to play it by ear a little bit. Certainly not right now though!
We have viral conjunctivitis here, and I thought there might be an ear infection on the way, but it's just a bit of dermatitis in her outer ear which is bleeding a bit sometimes. And a slightly snotty nose. So revolting moods are the order of the day - and I stupidly volunteered to bake for someone's wedding tomorrow, and tomorrow is my brother's birthday and I have done *nothing* and the house is a pigsty. I'm feeling a bit snowed under.
After being sent home from day care on Tuesday, Sam's lasted the day today. Phew! Me... now sick. Rotten sore throat, DH has been complaining of the same thing, too. I get nervous when I'm like this and immune-suppressing drugs... At least I have a script for ABs ready to go, but they'll upset my liver. *sigh* All too hard!
Audax, I really don't recommend taking up specialist juggling as a hobby. I can suggest a number of different things that would be more fulfilling and cheaper! Understand the snowed under thing.
Time to go get the munchkin... I kind of want to leave him there as I haven't rested today like I should have. But the flare from hell has finally subsided so I decided to find my kitchen.
