and another important common denominator, they are not noisy activities (when mummy has a headache e.g has had not significant sleep lately). i decided to ban battery operated (e.g noisy) toys from our home, for my own sanity. (bilby didn't sleep more than two hours at a time, 24/7 at the time.

i think every parent has times when you just do, what you gotta do, to get thru. Especially when you have two kids close together i would think. I am in awe of women who are pregnant AND have a toddler to care for, simultaneously - that sounds a full on gig to me, so i'm in admiration of you PZ. respekt.
