    Smug/Crap

I was reading a thread called this ages ago, (I think started by Rouge) but I can't find it anymore so I'll just start a new one. I think it's a great idea. So often as parents, we find it easy to talk ourselves down, worry about what we are doing 'wrong' and focus on the negatives. It seems that if we dare celebrate the positive aspects of our parenting, we can be met with jealousy, anger and sarcasm. So, here is a thread to post things you're happy/proud about in your life as a parent (or just in general) and the things that are crap. It's just a fun idea for a thread, to show that no matter how it may first seem, nobody is 'perfect.'

    I'll start.

    Smug:
-My DD sleeps through the night!
-I lost all my baby weight plus extra by 4 weeks PP.
-Although it was hard, my DD is still thriving on my breastmilk.

    Crap:
-BF is still a bit of a struggle.
-I have had to put DD down crying and leave the room to shower, because I needed a break.
-I never get any housework done, not because I can't but because I don't want to.
-My belly is covered in big purple stretchmarks.

    - My DD can count to 40, recognises numbers in all sorts of random orders. She's 2 1/2
    - She knows the letters of the alphabet and can read her own name

    Crap:

    - She's clever enough to do the above things but can't figure out to do wee or poo on the toilet!!!!!!

PZ - Congrats on losing the baby weight so fast! Well done! Hope bf gets easier for you

I find that if I post smug stuff, they stop doing it. But it also works with the crap stuff... so,

    Crap:
DS is putting on full-scale, three-act broadway productions every dinner time.

Unfortunately I can name waaayyyy more crap than smug, so here are just a few...

    Smug...

DD is just the most lovely little girl in the world. She is gorgeous to look at as well as gorgeous inside. She melts my heart.
DS1 went the whole night last night without a nappy!
DS2 can make me smile even if he's being a little **** head!
I always get comments on how beautifully behaved and well mannered my children are in public. (Unfortunately that behaviour doesn't carry over to in private!)
I have BF DS2 trouble free for almost 8mths. And I love it.
I have the most kind hearted and considerate DH ever. I am more in love with him now than ever before. He rocks my world.
I am lucky enough to be a SAHM.

    Crap...

My children are allergic to sleep. All of them. Last night I was up 10 times to them. I kid you not.
My DD is the.biggest.whinger. And a tattle tale. I know it's an age thing too, but she's always been such a whiner.
My DS1 will.not.eat.dinner. Ever. I can't remember the last time he ate any bit of a meal I have cooked him, let alone all of it. He would have been a baby.
I don't get enough time alone with my man to dote on him and give him what he deserves.
The everyday battle or monotony and boredom I am having from being a SAMH
I'm fatter tahn ever and hate it.

I will stop there....I could go on and on!

    Smug...

DD loves singing and she could do the actions and sing her own version of Twinkle Twinkle by about 5 or 6 months old!!
DS has a great vocabularly and can talk really well
DD goes to sleep sooo easily!! I just say its bed time, she walks to bed lays down drinks some of her bottle and closes her eyes and goes to sleep in about five minutes!!!
DS is such a sweetie and I love how he says I love you all the time and is really loving towards everyone
Both my kids are just adorable.. lol like, really they are!!!

    Crap..

DD is starting to really throw some juicy tanties!!!
DS is smart, but whenever I try to sit him down and go through numbers and counting or letters he starts mucking around and being silly, I havent found the way he learns yet and Im afraid he will be like that in school
I have only gained weight since having kids.. I have lost a tiny little bit recently, but its nothing on what I gained!!!

Oh and DS will not eat dinner.. dinner time sucks at the moment!!!!

Smug: My DD sleeps 10+ hours every night.
She tells me when she wants to go to bed by giving me her bottle and saying "bot bot"
She talks very fluently and knows how to say "whats that?" "who's that?" "mumma what doing?" "pup dog" "call daddy"
She dances with me to my music and even sings along.
She has the most beautiful big blue eyes

Crap: DD won't eat real food and still wants up to 4 bottles a day
She still has an umbilical hernia and may require surgery
Because she does have much hair she is often mistaken for a boy
Often have to argue the fact I AM her mother!!
Couldn't give DD a sibling and she loves babies (beat myself up about that all the time )
My belly, sides, thighs and hips are covered in horrible stretch marks from pregnancy.
My belly skin sags and have to wear shapewear to hide it and be able to wear nice clothes
I suffer from anxiety and the smallest things set off an anxiety attack (we went into the city to have lunch for fathers day, DP picked a place that id never eaten at and the food was different from what id eaten and i didnt want to eat there, it should have been a simple no but i had a massive anxiety attack )

    Knows most colours
Can do puzzles that are 3+

    Crap
Didn't sleep through until he was over one
Likes things to be a certain way and doesn't like change, think he is going to be very stubborn!

Is going through a stage where he refuses to eat dinner

DS1 is a very caring loving thoughtful little boy. Fetches toys for his brother and is often requested for at playdates where many a girl has given him a kiss. No allergies even though both parents have heaps
DS2 is a very easy baby when awake and well rested - gorgeous to look at and took to breastfeeding perfectly! Eats his solids well and adores his big brother

    Crap
    DS1 - tantrums (need I say more)
DS2 - at 4 months (he is now 6) he stopped sleeping well at night. Feeding every 2 hours and at least once every night refusing to resettle for around 2 hours which is resulting in approx 4 or 5 hours of sleep for mum every night

    Smug...

DS is the funniest little boy ever, he is forever cracking us up with his hilarious personality
He's slept 10+ hours every night (bar maybe 4 tops) since he was 8 weeks old
He has a routine you can set your clock by, which makes life far easier
Hes saying mum, dad, nan and bub and knows who all our pets are and will point out lightning McQueen when you ask him 'where's lightning?'
He's finally starting to stand unassisted
He adjusts to anything we throw at him like he's been doing it for years

    Crap...
He is a professional tantrum thrower
You cannot alter his routine without serious consequences
I need to get my act together and feed him more nutritious, home cooked meals
I should WANT to spend more time with him rather than HAVING to
I just gave up BFing after 10 weeks without even trying to give it a good go
My PND still rears it's ugly head more often than I should allow and I take it out on DS
I'm not happy with my body and I can't keep blaming it all on being pregnant
    I don't think I will cope with 2 babies under 15 months
I don't spend nearly enough quality time with my df

Man I could go on forever with the 'crap' bit

Smug:- DD just turned 3 and can do 24 piece puzzles by herself.
She has the most amazing vocabulary
    She is very independent

Crap:- refuses to eat anything I cook except for my spaghetti bolognaise or lasagna even things she used to scoff down.
She is the most stubborn kid
Can hold on most of the day (2 nappies used a day) and if naked will go to potty by self but put clothes on her she refuses. And not because she has trouble undressing

Smug: DD1 can read and write her name and the word dad and speaks quite well for her age.

She can ride a motorbike alone, pour her own drinks and had no issue going from a cot to a big girl bed before she turned 2.

DD2 has an amazing vocabulary for her age and already speaks in sentences 5+ words.
She can count to 10 and is recognizing letters.

Crap: they both have a know it all attitude and throw massive tantrums to match.

DD2 spent the first year of her life attached to me and screaming if I moved out of site.
DD1 will jump, climb or move anything to do what she wants, giving me minor heart attacks.
Both are very fussy with food at the moment.
