DH and I have been offered a long term lease of an adorable cottage on a hill with beach views in a quiet country area. We don't have to pay any bond- just simply move in!!! We have been inlove with the cottage for years as we had our honeymoon there and finally....its up for lease.

It is the perfect time for something like this to happen as I am on maternity leave and we would have enough time to give notice to our current landlords within being penalized for not giving a months notice. We have been wanting to move for a couple of years but have always had financial/work or kiddy issues that prevent us. Also, as I am on maternity leave I will have plenty of time to look for work (although I am a nurse so finding work is usually easy). Anyway the whole thing is IDEAL!!!!

BUT....

No pets allowed as there are no fences...and yup...we have a 12 year old blue heeler that is immensely friendly to humans but not so much with other animals. She has breast cancer and basically she has been 'going to die' for the past 2.5 years- but she hangs in there.

Now DH and I are completely torn and feel extremely bad that we are even considering 'putting her down'. We have called family to see if anyone will take her but no takers as of yet. If we didnt have her we could move. Have a fresh start. A better life. It seems silly to not take this opportunity just because of a dog, but at the same time...she is OUR dog...OUR responsibility...and we love her....

I feel awful and confused...What would you guys do? Have you been in this situation before?
