Who ever called it 'the terrible twos' clearly hadn't yet had a three year old

Just like Santosha, we are well past it now, at 4y3m DS is delightful again, but from 3.5y for about 3 months we were going through 'crazy time', it does pass though
    I'm hearing you!!

JLeigh - I know my patience is wearing particularly thin also at present so it may well be exaggerated or felt more because of pregnancy. I thank my stars she will be so close to 4 by the time the bubba is born.

My mantra is also this too shall pass - I went through the other periods I thought I wouldn't get past and think about how they are distance memories (and also about how bubba is yet to go through those fun fun stages LOL)

Yes - this is definitely one of those times when I'm glad we have a decent age gap and the ttc trouble might have been 'meant to be'!

FWIW, today has been a great day. No tantrums or shouting (from Mummy or DS ) so far...

I'm just reading this now - OMG it all sounds so much like dd2 (who will be 4 in November) she is driving me absolutely bonkers most days.

Between her and the hysterical 2 year old that is cranky all day - I'm about ready to leave!

Breathe Arimeh, you only have to do 3.5 two more times!

If only your kids were as easy as they are cute, you'd have your feet up and they'd be doing the housework!
Promise that at least this 3.5 craziness seems to pass in a few months. xox

I thought about this thread again today. Moo will be 4 on the weekend and although he had calmed down since I last posted, it has intensified over the last week or so. The tears, the tantrums, the rudeness! He is so stubborn at the moment and seems to be completely deaf. He can't find the word he wants when he is talking and often just answers 'I don't know' when I ask him anything. He is dramatizing every little thing and the fears have come back again, he is scared of his own shadow lately. However he seems to have grown up a lot in the few days so I can see the light!

I have just posted about something similar about my just turned 3yo. Read through this and you could have been writing about my daughter. How are all the kids now. Are they getting back to themselves? I noticed this was posted late last year.

Dd2 is still shocking, wont answer questions when asked (like, what do you want for breakfast) and then cracks it when we don't make her anything, and then changes her mind halfway through us making it - so frigging frustrating. Plus she has a real attitude at bedtime now (I'm not tired, I don't know how to go to sleep, I don't want you to look at me blah blah blah)

DS was unbearable for about a month, then seemed to snap out of it. He's been sick for a week now and, OMG, is he grumpy! Refusing to walk two steps across the room, ultra finicky with food (more than usual), just stands there to be dressed/get hands washed/shoes on and off. Then plays and laughs happily for ages....then yells at us because we 'used the wrong word' or something else equally trivial!

Hoping its just the sickness and not the age...

OMG dd2 is driving me bloody bonkers. She's horrible! So nasty and unpleasant to her siblings and does stuff she knows will make them angry.

plus she grunts and groans if she has something taken off her, and refuses to use her words.

She is refusing to do simple things now like putting her clothes on or shoes - all which she can do - she just says "I want you..."

And she gets really upset at the tiniest thing! Tonight she started crying and wailing because her own drool was on her arm!!! She was completely inconsolable for 15 minutes.

Dear God, when will this end? She's much worse than DS and dd1 were....

Lol, Arimeh! DS is refusing to get (un)dressed on his own either...not that he can do it all himself, but he was at least doing bits. Other things he's very insistent on doing by himself.

He stops in the middle of the floor and refuses to walk. I refuse to carry him, so its often a 'feet walk' as a compromise or we get a full on tanty!

Some days he gets just a bit whingy, other days he goes from happy to full blown tanty in less than five seconds. Over the exact same thing.

On the flip side, he's gone from not wanting to go on playground equipment higher than your knee to climbing the stairs, using slippery slides, crawling through tunnels and walking across bridges/ramps in the space of three weeks!

Can I join in here?! My three year old is absolutely doing my head in too He will ask a question then not even listen to the answer, next minute you're in trouble for not answering him even though you did. It's then probably the wrong answer anyway which results in meltdown. I didn't think it was even possible for the 'whys' to increase but they have hit an all time high, I swear he asked me something today and before I had answered he asked why? He can't see things that are right in front of him and seems to have lost words and stumbles through sentences painfully until he finally get there with it.
He also cries at the drop of a hat and says he misses everything and everyone. Like he says he loves school and misses it when he's not there, then on the way too school he misses the house when he's at school. It's getting quite extreme too every time he can't see someone even if they just left the room for a minute it's a sad face almost teary and he misses his brother, sister grandma whoever it is at the time.
He never hears you the first or second time, it's always 'What did you say?' at least 3 times before he seems to hear, or maybe it's understand or absorb what you've said, I'm not sure but it's infuriating at times especially juggling the very whingy/teary velcro baby.

If you want his food to be correct you must ask for step by step instructions and quadruple check before and you may be lucky and get it right

I know this will pass, but please hurry up!!!!!!!

Food is a biggie here too...it has to be done exactly the 'right' way, and that often changes several times during food prep!

OMG this is Eden too!!! Especially about the food!!!!! I can ask her and she'll tell me that she wants a certain cereal for breakfast, start preparing it and she meltdowns because she wanted something else and accuses me of being stupid and not giving her what she wants - but I'm doing what I'm told!!! ARGHHHH Frustrates me to no end.

We've started putting dry cereal in a bowl and putting it on the table and making sure she is happy with it 100% before adding milk now LOL
