    Cervical Pain??

    Hey
for the last week or so I've been getting occasional pain which I think is my cervix. It feels like that awful nervy type "twang" that you get during a pap smear - at least thats how I'd describe it. It happens when I sit down but comes and goes maybe once every couple of days for 1/2hr or so.
Do you think this is anything to worry about? I am 12 weeks.

Girls i know exactly how you feel. I have had pain that is just like period pain adn it has got me worried. I was just logging into BB to ask this exact question. A lady from my work just said to me that she had the same things until she was about 16 weeks. She said ti felt like constant period pain and she now has a beautiful 3 year old little girl. I might make an appointment with my GP just to check though. Will let you kno what he says.

i get a pain in what feels like my cervix which is sharp....i tell my DH it feels like i've sat on a knitting needle. I have had it for as long as i can remember with this pg and put it down to bub headbutting me but i dont know if 12 weeks is way to early. I got the same pain with my 1st pg but not until i was very close to my EDD. HTH. if your worried get checked JIC it might help ease your mind

    Thanks girls
Its definitely not period pain. This is more a nervy pain. I think I'll ask the Ob when I see her next. I'll keep you informed!

    hi there,

this sounds very like a pain i've been getting for the past two days. definitely not the dull ache of period pain - v. sharp pain quite low down. I'm also 12 weeks. Afraid I can't shed any light on what it is but it might help to know its happening to someone else!

if you find out what it is please post!

Im the same today. It seems like it happens for a few days then it gone for a while. It started in the 1st trimester and is still happening now. Love to know what it is because no midwives have really had an answer so far. One midwive said it was like this.......

It sounds like the "stabbing vagina pains." I've experienced them too. It's quite embarrassing to have one of these pains suddenly strike in the presence of strangers. I once shook and gasped so loudly that everyone in line at the supermarket asked if I was okay. "Oh sure," I wanted to reply, "It's just a stabbing vagina pain."

I believe these pains are similar to the "stabbing uterine pains" and are caused by stretching and repositioning of tendons, ligaments and muscles. Your innards have to rearrange themselves to make room for the baby and sometimes this can cause abrupt pain.

    I hope shes right.
