Ok, so I am seeing my Gp tomorrow. I spoke to the recoptionist at the local GP surgery, who was fantastic and wonderfully nice! I asked who the best person would be to see through the pregnancy, what kind of options do I have for shared care etc, and she was lovely.
So I made an appt. with a GP (I haven't met this one, but my regular GP has left and I just found out just then), another female GP who the receptionist said was absolutely lovely. I am going tomorrow at 4pm.
So I am just wondering, what actually happens. I assume they do BP and that kind of check-up things, but will they be doing anything else? Blood tests? I had a pap smear in February, so I wouldn't imagine I'd need another one...? Are there certain things I should be asking for? Certains things I need to arrange that I should already know about...? This is all new to me, and I have no idea about any of it!

She will do your BP I imagine and probably bloods, to confirm etc. Maybe even a HPT? It will be just a chat, quick do's and don'ts and probably discuss any tests you may want to think about having like the Downs Syndrome one at 12wks (Nuchal Translucency) and others you can chose to have. You'll discuss options for care, so either the GP, shared care or the midwife program atyour hossie maybe. I dunno, everywhere is different! Just ask anything you want because it will be a while until you'll be likely to have another appt. so any questions you have write them down so you don't forget. Good luck!
