Congratulations!! BB is a fantastic place for everything re: pregnancy. I wish I'd joined earlier!

I was the same as you when I found out! I was 2-3days late for my af and had a dr appt regarding something else. Ended up doing a pg test and hey presto mumma! I had to go back to work that afternoon. I was in shock! The next day the worry set in.

Like the others said, the worry didn't go away. I had an irrational fear of the unknown, bleeds, miscarriage, and towards the late middle of the pg, I began to worry about stillbirth. Thankfully, my dh was great and the midwives very accomdating. IF there was a problem I'd call them. OR go in for monitoring - just to ease my mind.

Your worry is perfectly normal - everyone worries! Speak to friends that are pg or have kids, your partner, dr and join your belly-buddies group! I can't speak highly enough for those who were in mine. What I couldn't get answered from others, I got from them.

Hang in there! Congratulations again and I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Some ladies worries disappear when they get to 12 weeks - others (like me) worry all the way through. Amongst numerous other things I worried would I make it to 12 weeks, then when I reached there would I make it through the 2nd tri, then when I got there I worried about going into early labour, then when I got to 37 weeks I stressed that I was going to go over. I needn't have worried about any of these things as bubs stuck nicely and arrived 1 week and 4 days early.

I noticed you mentioned worrying about your age. I'm not sure how old you are but I'm tipping you are younger than me. I worried about all the age related stuff throughout my pregnancy. I was quite paranoid about it actually, always expecting things to go wrong. I worried for no reason at all. I had an easy pregnancy, something I didn't expect to have seeing I was due a month after I celebrated my 42nd birthday.

Try to put your worries to the back of your mind and start enjoying the pregnancy. All too soon it will be over and bubs will be in your arms and you will wish you spent far less time worrying and more time enjoying the very special time of being pregnant.

    hey

Oh the worrying. I was so worried for the first 12 weeks, and thought once I had the 12 week scan and saw the heartbeat that it would be ok. Wrong. I still kept worrying that something would go wrong.

The one thing that helped enormously is buying a doppler. That way, after 12 weeks you can have a quick listen to bubs heartbeat and hear that all is ok in there.

Also once I felt her start moving I worried less.

But, no the worrying never goes. Yesterday morning she hadnt moved all morning and I was soooo worried. She started kicking in the afternoon though.

Im guessing that it never ends, even when bubs is born because you have a whole new set of things to worry about!!

Worrying is completely normal. Believe me!
In my first trimester I did an embarrassing 13 HPTs. It seemed to be the only way I could convince myself that everything was still going fine.
Even now that I'm in my second trimester and have seen my baby, perfectly fine and healthy, up on the screen, I worry that something will go wrong. I don't think the worrying ever really stops - I suppose it's all part of being a mum!

I think the best advice is to find ways to deal with the worry. For me, that was asking questions (a lot) on BB, and writing/venting in my blog. And although the worrying doesn't ever go, it gets easier to deal with.

Congratulations - and I wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy

I think that worry in the early stages is pretty normal. It is all such a new experience and you really dont know what to expect from any aspect of it. I took the mantra "Don't worry about the things you can't control". Excess stress causes increased cortisol levels ( a hormone) which isn't great for the baby. You just have to keep going on with life as best you can whilst feeling terrible from ms and tiredness and take some reassurance from that. If you really want some extra reassurance you could always have an early ultrasound.
If there is any time to listen to your body it is now. if your body is telling you to eat - then eat, telling you to rest - then rest.

    Hi Tenar

    Congratulations!!!
I understand where you are coming from. Its my first , and I am wondering about my age, being overweight and wondering whether everything is ok too.
I cant help being worried, just the sort of person I am. Over analysing everything! I havent reached my 12 weeks yet. I am hoping that once that happens, i can relax a bit more! I think we have to try and relax as much as possible and think positive. Think about holding that gorgeous bub in our arms when the time comes, we truly deserve this beautiful gift. A miracle. It really is.
I know its hard to even stop thinking about it at any point of the day, hang in there and keep well. Its our time.

Yeah it is hard, it does get better especially once you have reached the 12 week milestone. But remember that worry can often cause more problems so be careful not to think to many negative thoughts either. keep your mind busy on work or other things and don't obsess on the internet too much. Its great to learn but it can also cause more worry than is needed.
I still worry but certainly not as much as I did in the first trimester. They say the 2 week wait is bad, this next 12 weeks is a shocker I ca assure you. So go grab your handbag and do some retail therapy to ease your nerves and keep your mind busy, your body will take care of the rest.
