Just got BFP, but still feel period pain... how much cramping is normal?

I just got my first BFP! I am so excited. But I am still feeling AF is on her way. I can feel the cramping. Its not bad. It comes and goes. It is mainly on the right side but often feels like its just like normal period pain. How much cramping is normal and when can I expect it to subside? Should I be concerned? Can I take Panadol if it gets bad? I am only one day late for my period, so its so early! Is this cramping just implantation pain?

With each of my pregnancies I have felt what feels like the "warning cramps" of the period and it happens on and off for the first couple of months. What you are experiencing is normal. Take a panadol for the pain and try not to worry. If you are really concerned go and see your doc for reassurance.

BTW - This time around I had a lot of discomfort in particular on my right side and I now know that this is where the placenta is so maybe that's why I had pain there...

I'm 8 weeks pregnant now and am still getting those low-level period like cramps occassionally. Usually shortly after I have them, I notice an onslaught of creamy cm which indicates that my progesterone levels are good so I now take them as a good thing.

    Totally normal...don't worry!

    Oh, and congratulations!

Yes to Panadol and yes it's quite normal, I have had period type pain with this pregnacy and still get it occasionly. I also can re-call simular pain with my last two pregnancies. I wouldn't be worried unless you start bleeding!!!
    Best of Luck!!
Oh and Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

I am getting quite nasty cramps on my left side. I don't tend to get period pains which is why it always had me looking bewildered when I asked what contractions are supposed to feel like and I was told "period cramps". I didn't even realise I was having contractions already when I went in to be induced with DS - I had just passed them off as him moving inside me and it being quite confined hence the little pains!

I think the pains in early pregnancy are also due to ligaments stretching and gas buildup. Mine have been quite bad, and I have also been checking for AF but she's not coming. My belly is growing instead... It's just weird that it mostly happens on the one side.

    Cramping in early pregnancy

I did a hpt at 3.30 a.m. this morning and got a positive!!!!!!!!!! And I'm the same as you, strange cramping over the last week or so, so was sure AF was going to visit! Thrilled and over the moon that she isn't though.

Well done and congratulations on starting this exciting journey.

Yep the cramping has backed off now. I get a bit of a dull ache for a spit second every now and then. But mainly in later afternoon and evening. But its not that often now. My nipples are just starting to get a bit sensitive other than that i feel completely normal...

thank you for this thread, it's been great reading everyone's posts!

I've been having dull AF type mild cramps like AF is about to hit, for about a week now... even before my BFP hence that's why i was convinced my AF was coming and that I didn't have a chance! But I was wrong when I tested and got a !! (tee hee)

Mine come and go throughout the day... and I feel VERY bloated!
