These should be used as a guide only. HCG levels double approximately every 48 hours during early normal pregnancy and you should always discuss your results with your Doctor if you have any concerns.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had blood hcg levels that weren't doing the text book "doubling every 2-3 days"?
I have had 3 blood tests this week and my hcg is rising....slowly.
My doc isn't too worried as he says the "doubling time thing" is outdated but I'm not sure about this. All the literature says that a doubling time of less than 3 days in early pg suggests a non-viable pregnancy.
My doc told me about a patient who had a doubling time of 6 days and is now 29 weeks pregnant with no problems but I'm having trouble believing it.
I have to wait all weekend 'til I see an ob and get a scan so I was wondering if anyone has an experience like mine that had a good outcome? 8-[
Hi there,
I defo heard of a girl over on Fertilitext who was like 13 weeks preg before a normal urine HGCtest showed positive. Her numbers started real low and stayed low until she got into her second trimester - she's got a healthy baby boy now. I think she's called Jaylyn over there - put Fertilitext into google and go to their discussion's board - she may still be around.
I think they say it "suggests" a struggling pregnancy - it doesn't CONFIRM one. Put your trust in your Doc, he wouldn't give you false hopes.
wow...I'm almost 5 days overdue with my period and am convinced that I'm pregnant but 2 HPT's have said otherwise. Maybe I should just go in for a blood test. I can't imagine going weeks without knowing what the heck's going on with my body! [-(
Good luck SerDes, I think you should get a blood test done. I will be looking forward to seeing how you are going.
Just to update this thread, my pregnancy is going really well. The hcg is NOT a reliable indicator of a viable pregnancy, so the specialist told me.
I have had two scans to date which show a healthy baby.
With Ryley my HCG didnt double very much until he was 12 weeks gestation!! My progesterone and HCG were so low that one particular nurse told me that I was pretty much guaranteed to miscarry and that dont worry most first pregnancys are miscarriages!! Obviously all was good coz my little man is a 19 pound little boy now, and if your doc says not to worry then dont. I had two HC blood tests every week when 12 weeks and under and you would hardly see an increase.
i just wondering i got my blood test back today an this is wat it said
hcg 5-50 u/l
equivocal- low level of hcg detected. suggestive of pregnancy not greater then a fewdays duration
wat dose this mean how many weeks or dats am i
I think they have 2 types of blood tests ?? one where the numbers are given specifically and the other where it just gives you a yes/no answer...
When we first found out we were pregnant it was very early days and i had a blood test and my levels came back at 22, the doctor told me what yours said, if i remember rightly it has to be over 25 for a definate, i worried for the next week as i waited for the next blood test results to check to find out that the levels had risen and all was fine, i was just very early pregnant.
Which by the looks of it you are as well. So Congratulations to you

Hi
Has anyone had good luck when they have had low hcg levels, I mean still carried to term? I have had a very low reading of 34 and wd have been 4 weeks 2days, i then had a tiny amount of pink in my cm. was pathetic, but then little cramping too. Im sure Im having a miscarriage, but it is so slow. Its now been 3 days and havnt had any more blleding or cramping.. weird.I dont feel pregnant, my boobies are only just sore, tiny nausea now and again.. I dont want to even get my hopes up. If I dont do any heavy bleeding today, i will do another hcg level monday.. Almost to scared. This happened last month, got to 5 weeks and it all started, the time b4 that, got to 14 weeks. and at my scan was told bub had died at 1o weeks... very very sad...Starting to lose hope if I get three in arow.
A one off HCG level are not a very accurate way of measuring your pregnancy. You need to look at a few levels over a number of weeks. If the levels are increasing then this is a good sign. Also re your bleeding this is normal however the cramping is cause for some concern. The good news is that your cramping did not last for too long.
I got my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks babydreams and alan for your reply... Its nice to have positive vibes!! O
Congratulations Fee on your baby.. Hope you have a great 7 months. You made me feel so much better, I know things can change so quickly, even as I right this...I hate going to the toilet. 8-[
All I can do is wait...wait...wait. We women are good at this arnt we.I will keep you posted on the out come

hi my HCG levels are 8350 but i am not sure if i am 5 1/2 or 7 weeks pregnant i thought i was 7 but when i had a ulstrasound the sac was showing i was 5 1/2 weeks so i had a blood test and thats when it showed up my levels were 8350 so i am wondering what were other people HCG levels when they were in there early prenancy
Hi Karen. I had HCG tests done at 3w4d, 4w4d and 5w4d that were 212, 4,580 and 38,600 respectively. BUT my levels were MUCH higher than "normal" levels - so much so that my GP was convinced I was having twins! Ended up just being one bub who has made his mummy very sick - apparently a side effect of very high HCG levels in early pregnancy. I was told that its not the actual level that is so important - just that they continue to rise.
