I booked in at around 8 weeks as I was told it gets booked out quickly where I am. Had my first appointment to confirm everything at 14 weeks. I guess it depends where you're wanting to go?
I suppose it works differently everywhere. For me, I went and saw a doctor when I first thought I was pregnant, and she referred me to the antenatal clinic at the local hospital. I received a letter in the mail telling me of my first "booking in" appointment, which was at about 12 weeks. Because I have all my check-ups, etc at the hospital, the booking in is kind of automatic. I think it probably works differently at different places, and probably depends on what kind of care you have - GP, midwives, etc. If you're worried, ring up your hospital and just ask them what the procedure for it all is. Hope this helps .
I was told by my GP to decide where I wanted to go and if it was private, you are better off ringing sooner than later to make a booking as they book up. So I had my OB appointment, blood test done and everything booked by 8 weeks. but as everyone said, it all depends where you want to go.
