Thats silly not having bananas in the fride I used to work for a banana ripening company and guess where they are stored...In the fridge it's the heat that actually makes them ripen quick and get brown spots.
After reading all that on bananas I want one now hee hee

If you keep them in the fridge they go brown all over really quickly. Not sure of the scientific stuff, but it has something to do with the enzymes they emit as they ripen. When they are cooled to below 4oC they cant release the chemical properly and they overripen VER quickly. Thats why they are ripened in a cool room by that company.
the chemical they release also helps other things riped, so if you avacado isnt quite ready, put it in a freezer bag with a banana for a daya and it will soften p and ripen.

Packing a banana for morning tea on the strength of this! lol
I'm so glad I'm not allergic to bananas. Bananas trigger migraines for my mum and she really misses bananas. I've grown up with banana sandwiches, sliced bananas in custard and, well, just love them! I shared a flat with a girl once who used to fall asleep if she had anything with banana in it. Poor thing.

    Thanks for posting the article!
