Hey Alexmoving
I’ve just had my son circumcised at 3 ½ weeks old, they say the younger the better as they are less alert. I procrastinated a little on booking him in because DH really had to convince me to get it done. However I have no regrets at all, the clinic we went to used the Plastibell method and we were given numbing cream to put on his penis 2 hrs before the procedure was completed. A tricky task when you then having to wrap it in cling wrap!!
The procedure took 10 minutes, from the time he left my arms until I got him back and he was only slightly grizzly when he came out. After a quick boobie feed he was good as gold. Two babies were done while we were waiting and neither of them came out of the room upset. It's taken around 1-2 weeks to heal up nicely and in this time DS felt no pain when weeing or being bathed.
I have 5 girlfriends who are either pregnant with or recently had boys and 4 out of 5 of us have chosen to circumcise. Also I have 6 nephews, 3 are done and 3 are not. He certainly won’t be the odd one out in his class, and as for being teased.. well we all come in different shapes and sizes. The other kids may just be curious as to why he looks different.
As a few other ladies have said, it’s a personal decision to be made by the parents no one else. Just research your clinics and find the best one.
Good luck with your bub and moving to Aus.
