I know that you aren't supposed to take Nurofen because of possible foetal deformities and possible placenta bleeding but at this early stage I wouldn't worry - if you are pregnant you would have only been at the cell division stage. I did google it once and from memory it is most dangerous in the third trimester.
Codeine is safe during pregnancy so if you are in a lot of pain and paracetamol isn't working for you Panadeine is fine. Codeine can cause constipation though so make sure you keep your fluids up.
Codral - don't know the reasons behind that one, a quick google would answer that.
Thanks, but I would have been about 6 weeks along when I took the nurofen. I am more than 7 weeks now, if I am pregnant, but a test at 6 weeks was negative despite lots of symptoms, so I'm waiting for next week to do a blood test.
I really should do a home prengnancy test, I just don't trust them all that much. A few years ago I was pregnant too which ended in a m/c at 6 weeks, and the tests were negative then.
I have no idea what nurofen will do in early pregnancy I just know it can be very dangerous for bub if taken in late pregnancy. I had a few drinks before I knew I was pregnant as well. I wouldn't worry to much about it though.
I've heard so much conflicting advice in regards to Nurofen. It's probably best to discuss it with a GP. I had a similar problem when I discovered I was pg and marched off to my GP with a long list of bad things I'd done/taken LOL!
I was told last week that you can safely have Panadol and Panadine but Nurofen is not something you should be taking whilst pregnant....he did say why but i can't remember...sorry!
In late pregnancy it can affect an important blood vessel in the heart causing it to close to early leading to heart problems if not detected, but I don't know about early pregnancy.
