I get the 'gee your big' comment too, I even had one women tell me 'gees your fat now'!!!!
Usually I just say 'well there is a baby in there' but once I did get pretty ****y and said, 'well I will give birth but you'll always be ugly'.

Oh man I've copped so many of those comments lately.
'Your bumps way bigger this time, this kids gonna be huge!'
Its even more annoying because I'm measuring about 5cm smaller than last time? With Munchkin I was always 2-3cms ahead and this little one is about 2-3cms behind.
I don't know if its end of pregnancy impatience/irritation but I usually just grump at them. Sadly nothing witty as yet, maybe next time.![]()
But I don't know about you guys, I kind of find it rude when someone tells me I'm going to have a 'huge baby'. Last time I checked, I was just having a baby.
I had the same thing! (although I secretly thought I was bigger too)
Funny thing DD1 was 2987g and DD2 was 2900g, and only 3 days between gestation.
Oh Kel, I feel for you, it is the only time that I did not like being pregnant, when people gave unwanted comments/advice.
Don't let them get to you just enjoy your lovely 'big' bump.
1) "your just jealous 'cus my beer belly kicks back"
2) if you think i'm big now - wait till you see me after i've eaten!
3) yep, im loud, and proud and gettin' round. but growing a human will do that to you
4) not sure how many, the aliens didnt tell me that before they took off again.
5) at least i know WHEN i'll drop alot of the waight. sadly you dont.
6) pregnancy makes you glow, jealousy only turns you green.
dont worry about 'em. i was "huge" but never felt it. and i looked at it this way - they have all the more of me to admire

i dont really have any comebacks i never had the guts to say anything!
But Kellie just wanted to say my daughters birthday is the same as your due date![]()
I've been heading people off at the pass....mostly the 1st question I get is "how far along are you", to which I reply "I'm xyz weeks, but I'm HUGE", so that they don't get a chance to insult me first.
My mum is probably the worst culprit, and it's not helped by the fact that my sister is a week ahead, but barely even looks pregnant, so it's kind of like Mum thinks she's doing a "good" pregnancy, and I'm not.Mind you, she's a completely different body shape to me, taller, bigger boned, and a couple of sizes larger to start with...but I'm all tummy, and it's been out there very early this time around.
I wish I did have a good comeback though, I'm feeling yuck enough as it is, without having people kind of confirm it for me, even if they don't quite mean it as it comes out.
Good one Dansta.
I could never think of anything witty either. My SIL and a work mate, both of which were quite overweight themselves were the worst culprits. I used to either agree, because I did look huge and always measured ahead by a few weeks, OR say something like "gee thanks, every pg woman wants to be told that"
FWIW I loved being big, it showed my pg really early, made it obvious I was pg not just fat and I felt really proud of my big tum. Embrace it I reckon!
"I must have missed the memo saying it was now polite to comment on another persons size" I never said that though, just wished I could.
Look at your belly and sigh and say I know then look at them and ask when they are due LMAO!
I said to one man once "I'm just giving you a run for your money" - that was in a pub, with heaps of people listening in and he did have a belly to rival mine and I was over 30wks pg at the time! and boy did he feel embarrassed afterwards, he even apologised
and the other one Ive used is "I'm growing a human being, what's your superpower?"
I was massive with both of my pregnancies and I was getting so annoyed with all the 'gee you're big comments' so I would say "i think I look pretty small considering I'm having triplets!!" I have also said "i'm not pregnant just have a beer belly" Both comments seemed to shut people up real quick. I loved messing with people. One lady (a stranger) hit me on a bad day and I actually told her to stop being so concerned with the size of my belly and do something about the size of your a$$ because it makes my belly look tiny!!
I just took it as a sign that someone was complimenting my ability to grow a healthy baby. Most of the people I saw who said 'gee, you're big' meant 'big compared to the last time I saw you', which is fair enough really.
But for those who aren't very polite about, try:
To 'gee, you're big': 'gee, you're rude/annoying/obnoxious, but I don't feel the need to call your attention to it, do I?', or,
'sure there's only one bub in there': 'yep, I'm sure, because I'm clever and can count to one', or 'yep, but I needed somewhere to store the pram too, it won't fit in the car'
'wow, you're going to give birth to a toddler': 'actually, I've decided to keep him in here until he's eighteen and can legally kick him out onto the street. Much easier that way', or 'no, an elephant actually, didn't you read about it in the papers, it's the first ever cross species surrogacy. Pretty cool isn't it, what science can do these days'.
I remember a delivery guy asking how far along i was. I told him 30 weeks (or whatever it was) and he says "Woah, that's gonna be a big one!"
I was too shocked to ask when he trained as an OB.
(he was right, DS was big, but that's besides the point. I just had a really lovely placenta)
Whenever someone has commented on how big I am I usually just say "yep, i'm growing a big healthy one!" I think being "big" when your pregnant is good, it means everything is going well!
I really liked the reply Suse came up with too:
To 'gee, you're big': 'gee, you're rude/annoying/obnoxious, but I don't feel the need to call your attention to it, do I?'

Thanks everyone!
I can't wait till someone makes one of these comments, and I can try some of these out!
Think I'm going to go with, 'yeah, I am feeling heavy, how about you make me a cup of tea' he he he
I read this article in Pregnancy & Birth mag yesterday its called 5 Ways to Respond to Stupid Comments, I thought id share it as its relevant to this post I found it really amusing as well
People say the most ridiculous things to pregnant women. Be armed and ready with these clever comebacks.
"oh my your bump is so big/small"
You Say; "thats so funny because someone said the exact opposite to me yesterday. But as my doctor says anyone who thinks bump size is an indication of the size of my baby is clearly misguided. It's just like assuming a man who drives a big car has a big..."
"Well your definitely having a boy/girl"
You Say; "oh no here I was hoping it would be a suprise and now you've gone and ruined it! How did you know? I've been to the ultrasounds and couldnt see a thing - but somehow you can just look at my bump and know straight away. Your powers are amazing"
"Child Birth is the most painful thing that you will ever go through"
You Say; "Yes I figured that it was called labor and not rest and relaxation for good reason. personally I couldnt think of anything more painful then not having this baby, so I'm really looking forward to the birth and bring he/she into our lives."
"You can say Goodbye to your social life"
You Say; "Really? I was thinking id join a mothers group, go to playgroup, catch mums n bubs movies, see my stay - at - home mum mates, book babysitters for nights out, leave my partner to look after the baby while I catch up with friends..."
"A Baby means the end of your sex life"
You Say: "If we can still do it with the baby kicking me from the inside, I think we'll manage it in while he/she sleeps in the room next door. And really if having a baby meant no more sex, the world would consist of single child families. Im one of three kids, so my parents managed to do it at least twice after giving birth to me"
I had such a huge baby and I am less than 5 foot people couldn't help but comment. I looked like a might fall over at anytime. I used to proudly say "I make a good baby" or "What can I say? When I commit to something I give it my all." or for family members or work colleges who say "you are massive" I'd say "Yeah, you should probably be doing more for me now."
Wear your bump with pride, I choose to believe these comments are well meaning. ie you are such a good baby maker, your baby is so big and healthy! and if they didn't mean this I'll never know.
