Hi girls, think its time i face reality and join in here.
For a start i'm type 1 diabetic, secondly our little man has tetralogy of fallot. his heart is basically built all wrong and doesnt carry enough oxygenated blood around his body, which will result in him have 'blue episodes' when he's feeding, crying or excited when he's born until he has open heart surgery to fix everything.
It;s all pretty daughnting atm, our girls have been 100% perfect.
I had an amnio done last week because his heart condition can be linked to chromosomal disorders but thats come back all clear thank goodness!
We have another scan at 32 weeks to see if his arteries are growing with his body or not, and will be taking it from there. they said they looked realy good so far, so keeping our fingers crossed we can get him closer to 38 weeks.
Not really sure how the birth will go, theyve said theres no need fr me to have a section because of his condition, but i think i;ll be birthing infront of an audience again! nothing like pressure huh? (DD2 was born at 36 weeks) theyve also said he could be born blue, but im not sure if that means his colour will be blue for longer than normal but he'll be fine or if he'll be born not breathing kinda blue. Have an OB app next tues so will ask then.
All going well he'll be able to come home between being born and his op at 3-6 months, but it all depends on his condition when he is born, too many variables for my liking, i like things to be clear cut so not handling it all to well!
Look foward to reading up on your stories
    xx
OMG Skybie, what a run you are having. Your poor little man. I hope your gorgeous bub gets to come home with you once born until his op. How scarey for you and your DH. Im so glad the amnio results came back clear, at least thats one thing out of the way. What an anxious wait you have on your hands. Make sure you let us know how your OB appt goes next week and what he/she says about your question. No pressure hey hun, being on show when delivery happens. Even though I am having a c/s, I feel like I will be on show too, especially laying there like a piece of meat at the butcher and having the whole room decked out with different Dr's and Nurses, ohh and laying there half naked while they slice you open and play around down there. Not really looking forward to that moment TBH. I will be praying that everything goes well for you and your little man. Keep strong hun and keep coming in here for that extra support and understanding. hugs

    yeah was a good report...

nah wont hit 36, he said it will be nothing short of a miracle to get to 36-37weeks, my cervix is shortening to quick.
i only asked last week coz he thought we might have gone last week or this week but he only likes to do one maybe 2 doses because a study has just shown to many doses can slow down brain development, i havnt read the study but i have so muxh trust in my OB im happy for him to call the shots...

yayyyy!! for scans on tuesday mine is tuesday arvo, im desperatly hoping for a 3D look at her face to see who she is looking like!!!
how exciting, u will know soon when baby will be here. im hoping my cervix length will give us a rough idea of how long ill hold on, the more weight and pressure that gets added the quicker its going to give in so who knows!!!
Hey hun, miracles happen but lets just take each second, minute, hour, day, week and month as it comes. Maybe you should hang upside down hun to get those extra few weeks out of your poor old cervix. hehehe. Yet who really wants to do that huh, it will just make the blood rush to your head. Again just keep resting, (sounding like a broken down record here) You know we are all here for you, and will be celebrating the birth of your little princess when she and your cervix decides its time. hugs

Hi all, haven't been posting for a bit, but have been reading, and stalking.

I would have been on sooner tonight but we didn't get home until 6pm as we had to go to the shops and get some things - I am definately not going to be shopping in Target anytime in the near future! I spent 10 minutes waiting to be served at the layby counter, 5 mins before closing and 5 mins after closing, and still didn't get served so I stormed off swearing my head off lol and then put in a complaint!

Anyway, hubby stole my computer when we got home as his laptop has a virus....

Anyway, had my morphology scan today, and we are having...

    A GIRL!!!

At least the sonographer thinks it's a girl as there was no "dangly bits" as he put it lol

Was a very co-operative little bubba, did everything that she was supposed to and gave the sonographer good views of her heart, everything is measuring exactly on dates and she has really long legs - measuring a week ahead! - but she only has a small skull, measuring 2 wks behind but the sonographer said he could have been a bit out in his measurements as her skull is still a bit narrow in width and still needs to do some more growing.

So all in all it's been a good day - and next week I get to go shopping buy some cute little purple things!!! (I can't stand pink... I keep on telling people I only want purple clothes lol)

A special note to Beema - Hi hun, it was a wonderful idea on starting this High Risk Thread. I hope the mods keep it going long after we have finished in here. Its such a wonderful outlet for us in the high risk category and being able to share our pregnancies with each other and offer each other support really helps. Especially knowing your not the only one. ITMS. So Thankyou again for starting it, and again hun congratulations on your georgous princess. Im so glad all worked out for you after such a long, complicated and stressful pgcy. Hugs

Hi lovely ladies boy I am glad to see that you are all still baking away!!!

Hopefully I can get through some personals before Miss A awakes!

Congrats Jenna on a little girl, so exciting!!! I hope you find lots of lovely purple things!! And I am thrilled your US went well

csab oh hun I am absolutely thrilled that your little one's growth has improved, wooo hooo for going up in the percentiles!!! And I am stoked to see that you are nearly at 32 weeks, your pregnancy seems to be flying by to me
What a truely beautiful message , I hope the thread will continue as well, because I know I found it hard trying to explain everything to my Baby Buddies as they were all having "normal" pregnancies, and I didn't want to scare the one's having their first... and it was so good to be able to come in here and have mums who understood what it is like day in and day out dealing with so much.

Skybie oh hun, it must have been a huge shock to you, I am so glad that you have found heart kids, I have a few friends who have used their services and they have simply raved about how amazing they are. I will be keeping you and your little Man in our thoughts and prayers and I hope you will get some more answers from your OB as to what to expect. Everyone in here is really understanding and having mum's who know what it is like to go through a stressful pregnancy can make a big difference on the down days and know how important the up days are.

Crumpet, what fabulous news!!! You can be that miracle girl, I will be crossing my fingers and toes you can last as long as possible! My OB was the same with the steroids, we only went down tha path when we thought we really weren't going to be able to stop the labour at 32 weeks, but was so happy the progesterone on top of the Nifedipine did it's thing, we did have a top up dose on the Tuesday and I delivered early on the Thursday, and Anastasia really needed them, as she struggled quite a bit after delivery, and without them a transfer would have been inevitable

Butterfly Forever big hun, I am so sorry to see that you didn't get a reply the other week, I am so sorry to hear that things aren't going so well, I hope that you can last as long as possible and that your next US shows improvement, good to know you have the steroids on board, but hopefully you will get into the 30's.

AFM ~ we have DD2's Paed appointment next Friday and then on the Saturday she has an US on her hips as she is high risk of having Hip Dysplaysia, her Paed has checked her a couple of times and wants the scan done as she has a 1:3 risk of having it (but a 2:3 she doesn't ). The risk factors are below:

    Female ~ yes
    First born ~ no
Family History ~ we have a family history of hypermobility, being too flexible in the joints (3 generations at least), Nakita is hypermobile in her hips and knees
    post-date ~ no, 5 weeks prem
    breech ~ yes
low fluid levels ~ yes, I had no AF 2 days prior to delivery
"compact pg" ~ yes, all baby, round tight bump

So I guess we will just wait and see what the scan says, and what ever the result we will just deal with it and keep positive

Other than that there aren't any medical issues that we are aware of, we will be keeping an eye out for hypermobility and if present we will get on top of it quickly with physio.

Take care gorgeous mummies and keep baking these amazing babies!!
