Yay crumpet hun, thats wonderful news about your ob appt this week. ATM I havent had much talk about the steroids with my Dr's yet, hopefully we wont need to have that talk. FX you make it to 36wks, how cool would that be for you. Again with the bedrest..... R.E.S.T.............. R.E.S.T.......... R.E.S.T.......... lol

Well, have my u/s nest week on Tuesday so will get to see bub again and hopeuflly have some good news. yet with any luck will have an idea on how soon bub will make an entrance to the world too, especially since the Physcians etc need me to stop the aspirin at a certain point. Everyone I see cant believe i am as far as I am in the pgcy, yet I cant see what they see, I think I look it. One lady didnt even think I was pg. So I figure I must just look fat. lol. Hi girls, think its time i face reality and join in here.
For a start i'm type 1 diabetic, secondly our little man has tetralogy of fallot. his heart is basically built all wrong and doesnt carry enough oxygenated blood around his body, which will result in him have 'blue episodes' when he's feeding, crying or excited when he's born until he has open heart surgery to fix everything.
It;s all pretty daughnting atm, our girls have been 100% perfect.
I had an amnio done last week because his heart condition can be linked to chromosomal disorders but thats come back all clear thank goodness!
We have another scan at 32 weeks to see if his arteries are growing with his body or not, and will be taking it from there. they said they looked realy good so far, so keeping our fingers crossed we can get him closer to 38 weeks.
Not really sure how the birth will go, theyve said theres no need fr me to have a section because of his condition, but i think i;ll be birthing infront of an audience again! nothing like pressure huh? (DD2 was born at 36 weeks) theyve also said he could be born blue, but im not sure if that means his colour will be blue for longer than normal but he'll be fine or if he'll be born not breathing kinda blue. Have an OB app next tues so will ask then.
All going well he'll be able to come home between being born and his op at 3-6 months, but it all depends on his condition when he is born, too many variables for my liking, i like things to be clear cut so not handling it all to well!

    yeah was a good report...

nah wont hit 36, he said it will be nothing short of a miracle to get to 36-37weeks, my cervix is shortening to quick.
i only asked last week coz he thought we might have gone last week or this week but he only likes to do one maybe 2 doses because a study has just shown to many doses can slow down brain development, i havnt read the study but i have so muxh trust in my OB im happy for him to call the shots...

yayyyy!! for scans on tuesday mine is tuesday arvo, im desperatly hoping for a 3D look at her face to see who she is looking like!!!
how exciting, u will know soon when baby will be here. im hoping my cervix length will give us a rough idea of how long ill hold on, the more weight and pressure that gets added the quicker its going to give in so who knows!!!

OMG Skybie, what a run you are having. Your poor little man. I hope your gorgeous bub gets to come home with you once born until his op. How scarey for you and your DH. Im so glad the amnio results came back clear, at least thats one thing out of the way. What an anxious wait you have on your hands. Make sure you let us know how your OB appt goes next week and what he/she says about your question. No pressure hey hun, being on show when delivery happens. Even though I am having a c/s, I feel like I will be on show too, especially laying there like a piece of meat at the butcher and having the whole room decked out with different Dr's and Nurses, ohh and laying there half naked while they slice you open and play around down there. Not really looking forward to that moment TBH. I will be praying that everything goes well for you and your little man. Keep strong hun and keep coming in here for that extra support and understanding. hugs

Hey hun, miracles happen but lets just take each second, minute, hour, day, week and month as it comes. Maybe you should hang upside down hun to get those extra few weeks out of your poor old cervix. hehehe. Yet who really wants to do that huh, it will just make the blood rush to your head. Again just keep resting, (sounding like a broken down record here) You know we are all here for you, and will be celebrating the birth of your little princess when she and your cervix decides its time. hugs

Hi all, haven't been posting for a bit, but have been reading, and stalking.

I would have been on sooner tonight but we didn't get home until 6pm as we had to go to the shops and get some things - I am definately not going to be shopping in Target anytime in the near future! I spent 10 minutes waiting to be served at the layby counter, 5 mins before closing and 5 mins after closing, and still didn't get served so I stormed off swearing my head off lol and then put in a complaint!

Anyway, hubby stole my computer when we got home as his laptop has a virus....

Anyway, had my morphology scan today, and we are having...

    A GIRL!!!

At least the sonographer thinks it's a girl as there was no "dangly bits" as he put it lol

Was a very co-operative little bubba, did everything that she was supposed to and gave the sonographer good views of her heart, everything is measuring exactly on dates and she has really long legs - measuring a week ahead! - but she only has a small skull, measuring 2 wks behind but the sonographer said he could have been a bit out in his measurements as her skull is still a bit narrow in width and still needs to do some more growing.

So all in all it's been a good day - and next week I get to go shopping buy some cute little purple things!!! (I can't stand pink... I keep on telling people I only want purple clothes lol)

Yay congratulations Jenna on having a Girl, how exciting. So glad all went well with your u/s, thats wonderful. Hope your doing well. Hugs

A special note to Beema - Hi hun, it was a wonderful idea on starting this High Risk Thread. I hope the mods keep it going long after we have finished in here. Its such a wonderful outlet for us in the high risk category and being able to share our pregnancies with each other and offer each other support really helps. Especially knowing your not the only one. ITMS. So Thankyou again for starting it, and again hun congratulations on your georgous princess. Im so glad all worked out for you after such a long, complicated and stressful pgcy. Hugs

Hi lovely ladies boy I am glad to see that you are all still baking away!!!

Hopefully I can get through some personals before Miss A awakes!

Congrats Jenna on a little girl, so exciting!!! I hope you find lots of lovely purple things!! And I am thrilled your US went well

csab oh hun I am absolutely thrilled that your little one's growth has improved, wooo hooo for going up in the percentiles!!! And I am stoked to see that you are nearly at 32 weeks, your pregnancy seems to be flying by to me
What a truely beautiful message , I hope the thread will continue as well, because I know I found it hard trying to explain everything to my Baby Buddies as they were all having "normal" pregnancies, and I didn't want to scare the one's having their first... and it was so good to be able to come in here and have mums who understood what it is like day in and day out dealing with so much.

Skybie oh hun, it must have been a huge shock to you, I am so glad that you have found heart kids, I have a few friends who have used their services and they have simply raved about how amazing they are. I will be keeping you and your little Man in our thoughts and prayers and I hope you will get some more answers from your OB as to what to expect. Everyone in here is really understanding and having mum's who know what it is like to go through a stressful pregnancy can make a big difference on the down days and know how important the up days are.

Crumpet, what fabulous news!!! You can be that miracle girl, I will be crossing my fingers and toes you can last as long as possible! My OB was the same with the steroids, we only went down tha path when we thought we really weren't going to be able to stop the labour at 32 weeks, but was so happy the progesterone on top of the Nifedipine did it's thing, we did have a top up dose on the Tuesday and I delivered early on the Thursday, and Anastasia really needed them, as she struggled quite a bit after delivery, and without them a transfer would have been inevitable

Butterfly Forever big hun, I am so sorry to see that you didn't get a reply the other week, I am so sorry to hear that things aren't going so well, I hope that you can last as long as possible and that your next US shows improvement, good to know you have the steroids on board, but hopefully you will get into the 30's.

AFM ~ we have DD2's Paed appointment next Friday and then on the Saturday she has an US on her hips as she is high risk of having Hip Dysplaysia, her Paed has checked her a couple of times and wants the scan done as she has a 1:3 risk of having it (but a 2:3 she doesn't ). The risk factors are below:

    Female ~ yes
    First born ~ no
Family History ~ we have a family history of hypermobility, being too flexible in the joints (3 generations at least), Nakita is hypermobile in her hips and knees
    post-date ~ no, 5 weeks prem
    breech ~ yes
low fluid levels ~ yes, I had no AF 2 days prior to delivery
"compact pg" ~ yes, all baby, round tight bump

So I guess we will just wait and see what the scan says, and what ever the result we will just deal with it and keep positive

Other than that there aren't any medical issues that we are aware of, we will be keeping an eye out for hypermobility and if present we will get on top of it quickly with physio.

Take care gorgeous mummies and keep baking these amazing babies!!

    hi all,

thanks ladies for all the well wishes,

crumpet - great news on the scan, 34 weeks is a great gestation to get to. As for the steroids, prepare for a sore butt, biy does that injection hurt, and for several hours after as well.

csab - thanks, scar isn't reguarly measured in people after a section, it's just that I lost my daughter last year to a uterine rupture, so they are being hyper vigilant. My problems at the moment with the scar, are due to imcomplete patching me up after the Op and some of the uterine linng hasn't got adequate blood supply so has thinned out. Glad all going well for you.

Skybie - sorry to hear about all the stress and pregnancy problems you are encountering. It does come as a shock doesn't it, when other pregs have all been good. But I'msure they will do the best by but and you are getting well informed, which is forearmed as they say. Sending hugs.

Jenna - congrats on your little girl.

Beema - thanks for popping in, it is great to hear from you.
My daughter has hypermobility as well, any info you need just pm me.

afm - I'm still bored Tring to rest up but they have major hospital renovations going on, I have a crane, diggers, electric saw and jack hammer outside my window as we speak, joy! Just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit, the workmen might take their shirts off then, the scenery may improve
Had scan yesterday, no real change from the previous week, just taking a weeks at a time.
My friend just had her bub this week, she was admitted the same day as me, into this hospital, after bubs wasn't moving as much and the ctg trace wasn't great. So she had a emergency c-section at 33 weeks. Bubs, a boy, is now in NICU and doing really well, so I popped down yesterday to check him out, awww, so cute. Helped me to see the NICU again before i will be in again with this bub, as her little boy was in the same bay as my daughter that died last year, so needed to get over that hurdle. Happy I can deal with it now.

    Take care all

i honestly dont think i have it in me to be the "miracle" its all getting to much very quickly.....

glad to hear the steroids worked well for miss A. id rather we did them now, but OB wants to hold off and i figure he knows best so ill follow his lead...

sounds lime miss A is doing fabulously!!

good luck with her scans and appts!

Crumpet, you know hun it is completely normal to have times when you want it all over, and to not go on anymore, I know I had many many bad days throughout my pregnancy, and on those days I leaned on others, more so a close friend on Messenger, she would listen to me vent, but support me, tell me it is ok, and to keep me focussed on the bigger picture. We have always said that we know the bad days are coming, and they do, but the thing is we also know that there are good days as well, and to try and make the most of them while we can. I am now continuing to repay the favour to a dear friend who is also travelling a difficult pregnancy. PM me if you want to add me to Messenger xx

The steroids go in the top of you bum/base of you back... right in the rump just remember to wiggle your toes as they doing it and keep wiggling, I found it worked extremely well.

Thanks BF , DD1 has hypermobility of the hips and knees and went through intensive physio to learn to roll, crawl and walk, I am crossing my fingers that the weather warms up for you very soon so you can enjoy the "scenery" I am glad you still have a sense of humour! I hope your friends little man does well and isn't in too long. I am so glad there has been no change on this latest scan, hopefully that stays that way and you can bake for as long as possible

Well off to have some lunch and watch this terrible game of cricket!!

    hi
crumpet - my friends little boy is just on nasal oxygen. He started off fully ventilated but was only like that for a few hours. He si still needing the oxygen due to his size, he was 6lb 4oz born at 33 +2, appently the bigger the are for the gestation, the harder they have it, as they are trying to support the extra weight on immature lungs. He is also under the lights, as he has a little jaundice as well. NICU are usually happy to answer questions if you coontact thema dn even gave me info books on what to expect.

Beema - my dd2 also had hypermobility and need orthopaedic shoes etc. Yep, I'm going to perve at the workmen, wonder if anyone has any binoculars I can borrow

    take care all

    thanks hun.....
i do feel bad complaining, especially knowing what you went through in ur preg, im not dealing with anywhere near as much as u did...
my DH finished work early and came home to spend a few hrs together before he went out tonight so that brightened my day immensly!
and ur right there is a lot more good days than these bad ones, i just find the bad ones hit me like a sack of...well u know what!
ill send u a pm now, its handy to have someone who has dealt with bed rest to talk to, not everyone inderstands how draining it actually is....

oh nice!! lucky i have plenty of rump!! why the wriggle of the toes?? is it like a distraction??

wow that makes sense, the breathing and extra oxygen thing....
i always thought it was opposite, they were better off being a bit more plump.

one of my jan belly buddies just had her bub at 31w3d i think and he was 2.3kg and is breathing on his own!! its amazing what these little people can do!

Hi all, had my u/s today and it wasnt as great as what I had liked and hoped for.

Bub is sitting at the 7th percentile.

Heres the comparison to 3wks ago.

BPD was at the 5th percentile and is now well under the 5th percentile.
HC was at the 40th percentile and now sitting at the 35th percentile.
AC was less than the 5th percentile, yet thankfully the only one that has improved is now at the 6th percentile.
FL was at the 19th percentile and now sitting at the 8th percentile
est fetal weight was 1203g at the 8th percentile and is now 1659g and at the 7th percentile.

They want to rescan in 2wks, yet I am anxious already.

They think that the BPD could be due to the position of bub, and may be inacurate, but the Dr wasnt the one that did the u/s it was a normal sonographer today, which I was a bit uneasy about. Would have been nice if the same DR had done the scan, yet he wrote the notes. sigh.

Saw the baby dr / OB who decided to tell me that he didnt want to worry me, but with bubs growth bub may have DS. I then replied and said that there has been no soft markers whatsoever. he then replied and said there doesnt need to be any softmarkers. (this ended up really worrying me, I feel so upset right now) I keep mentioning my last bub and how small she is, and how she is fine just small. Anyway Im hoping that my bub is perfectly healthy. He did say bub maybe just small.
Ohh and mentioned the headaches which he checked the BP and said it is rising alittle but still ok, yet wants me to see the GP on Thursday and Saturday to have the BP checked. He then also mentioned that if I have anymore headaches that are like what I have been experiencing to call the birthing suite so they can monitor me. He also had me do some BT's.

Then it was time to see the physcisian (sorry spelling) He looked back at little V's records and seems to think this bub is following V's patterns but said nothing we can do just try not to stress. Well yeah thats easier said than done. He wants me to see him in 4wks, wants me to have a rest from the DR's appts. Wow one Dr makes a huge difference.

The OB wants to see me next week, but again something different each time with delivery times. He goes on to say that he thinks 40wks would be fine then maybe 38-39wks due to c/s's. However he wants to see the next u/s to see how bub is going and also to keep an eye on me. He said if bub needs to arrive or something is wrong with me, or the both of us then he will deliver.

So there you have it, still none the wiser about delivery, yet when I wanted to be left until 40wks they were stressing, then they stress me and they want to push it back. I was feeling very excited about meeting bubs and now I just cant be excited anymore. I am praying that bubs is healthy and the next u/s in two weeks shows some great growth. I am so worried about being stressed out even more now and when bub arrives. I was put through so much with Little V, I just dont want to go through that again.

Im so sorry everyone for the downer. I think my lack of sleep is just going to get worse now. Hugs all

    hey girls...

just popping in to see how we are all going......

more bleeding and pain here over night so am going in for monitoring this arvo and bloods on monday to rule out infection.

depending on what everything shows will depend on our plan of action.

have a appt with OB on monday anyway so he will try and see what the stitch is doing, if its dislodging it will have to come out, or if there is infection it will probably come out as well....

so just have to wait and see what happens now.....

butterfly how u going in hospital hun????
