When I got PG with DD2 everyone knew that BHL HAD only wanted two.... So when we turned around and got UTD with her I got alot of so did you trick him questions...
so, as a man, it's presumed that he's incapable of taking responsibility for contraception? some people need to be bound, gagged, and beaten with their own brainstem!

How about "Yes, we're hoping for a boy... or a girl. One of those two would be great!"
    .............classic. Love it.

YOur going to get those comments regardless - if you had 2 boys you would get the question about the girl, if you had one of each you would get some other stupid question. As long as you have a couple of these one liners up your sleeve, you will be fine.....and proud.

ETA; i hate the look when they see you have three girls, and they look at you like youve got three little guinea pigs, or 3 ferral cats following you...'you have 3 of them ???' gawd, i hate it.....

Cracks me up when disrespectful people ask about ''accidents". Personally I think it is very very nosy to ask someone anyway! Isn't it a personal thing?

Yes...his penis accidently slipped into my vagina. You know, I really don't know how that happened. Next time my vagina should really be more careful!

    :-P

ahh you girls have some great comebacks!

when i tell ppl (ppl being my family- cousins etc) of our miscarriage, i get 'were you trying or was it a surprise?' i get a little offended by that, because i think, a miscarriage is a miscarriage, whether or not we were trying, or it was a surprise, or even if it wasnt wanted (just for the record, it was a WELCOMED surprise that we were pregnant) we just lost a baby! what does it matter! grr anyways, thats just my pet peev at the moment!

Ok. this is something I expect to be hearing a lot of when it comes time to share our news.

Oh really...??? Was that an accident????

Our two kids are a bit older (11 and 8) we are a bit older (35 and 40) and after the second one we spent a lot of time saying "no, thats it, two is enough for us". No one has a clue that we were TTC. Not even our two girls.

So I am going to need a variety of comebacks to suit every mood and who it is that said it. I know there are some very wittya nd clever people hear in BB land and I am hoping for some inspiration please!

I also expect to hear a lot of....

So, are you hoping for a boy this time?

Which I am, but I dont intend on spreading that from the rooftops.
I've spent a lot of time freaking out about this issue because I am expecting #6 as a bit of a surprise.

I spent time coming up with responses, from snappy answers to answers designed to make the querying person just look rude. But this week I came to the conclusion that I am entitled to my privacy, that people aren't entitled to an explanation, I don't have to justify myself one way or another. I have just decided that rude and inappropriate comments are not worthy of a response, at all.

(I've got five girls so no doubt people will assume we tried for a boy!)

ok. the news is out... and at this stage i would say at least 90PERCENT!!!!! of people i have told have said "was it an accident?"

it is wearing thin. it doesnt bother me from people i am close to ( who i know had accidents themselves) but from others ... ggrrrrrr...

generally i have just been saying NO, IT WAS PLANNED. but some day soon someone is going to cop it big time! the pg hormones are definately kicking in.

Congrats on being 12 weeks!!!!!!! YAY!! I can't believe it's gone so fast.

If I were you I'd say 'No, and that's a really rude question'.

People used to ask us "what are you hoping for" I used to answer...
"well, i kind of want a baby! but I suppose I'll take whatever comes out!"

And too "do you want a boy/girl" I'd just say "yes... hey listen, I've been meaning to ask, if its a ____, will you take him/her?"

A few people asked if it was an accident (obviosly not people who KNEW us, just strangers making conversation and I'd say
"yeah, and let me tell you my girlfriend was really shocked!!"
Which usually leads to them minding their own damn business lol

LMFAO so many funny comebacks. I've found that ppl ask if we tried or not as well - from all my work colleagues which i find extremely offensive - who cares if you were TTC or it was an accident, it's still a baby and a joyous event at that.

i've also had some of the extra arrogant/ pushy ppl coming with advice/ scary stories - to which i'm just not interested so i tell them so 'not interested in hearing the one in a million freak things or disgusting stories, go away!'.

i had my NT scan yesterday (looking good) and a woman came up and said if it's got down syndrome i should have an abortion - i was so shocked! I told her that that's the beauty that i'm the one pregnant NOT her - it's my choice and i think children with downs syndrome can still have extremly fulfilling and happy lives - to which she said 'yeah but what about your life?' eugh some ppl!

hope all is going well with everyone's pregnancy and bring on the warmer weather!

I know it's rude. But when I read the wet dream one, I automatically thot "No, she rolled onto it" hehehe (Meaning dh's penis). I really liked that one. Cause it actually happened to me with Jess. Dh thought he'd been dreaming when we concieved Jess. He asked me the next day if it was a dream. I told him if it was, then it was a good one cause I'd had the same one!

My responses (we have already started sharing) are

'Why would you thing this bub is a surprise? Is it because I am young or because I already have 2 children? or are you just rude?'

'If we have a boy - Great, If we have a girl - Great, If we have a donkey - not so great'

Since gossip has been going around the workplace and people have been finding out I have got a lot of:

"Oh I didn't even know that you were trying!" (Why would I tell you anyway?!)

    and

"What are you hoping for?" (A baby, thanks for asking)

    Argh! Lol.
