I wish I planned my own...My mum and xmil planned mine, a suprise babyshower. Was good, but xmil invited all her family whom i have nothing to do with, and some of my close friends didnt get an invite. I had my suspisions (sp?) but i had to pretend that I didnt know what was going on. Sorry if I sound really ungratefull!!! lol It would have been much better if just mum and I planned it, I could have had who I wanted there.
I planned my own too. Though i was very slack and my SIL helped out a lot and it turned out to be a great day.
I wanted really special invites but i ended up just going to the newsagents and getting a pad full of invites from there and sent them out. But i googled baby shower invites and there are some great ones there.
I planned games and colouring in for the kiddies that came. My SIL made some awesome food so we mostly sat around chatting, eating and playing games which were hilarious. I got some really great gifts from my friends and family. I got things that i didnt think i needed and have become very useful.
I'm going to plan my own... but I want it uni sexed and not a traditional one... thinking more along the lines of a BBQ (Boy B Q) where we can celebrate the pending arrival of our new little man.
Not sure on when we are going to have it yet and I'll have to get a move on so I can make all the invites and send them out. If I was back in NZ I know my girlfriends would have planned one for me but we have a very limited number of friends over here so thought uni sexed was the best option so it's enjoyable and not one of those events that you wish you never had :-)
I have been planning my own, with help from my mum and mil.
I think traditionally, someone is supposed to plan it for you, and you're there as the guest of honour...
There are certain games I want, ones my mum wants ans ones mil wants. I'm trying to please everyone, but ultimately, this way its my decision in the end.
I still feel a bit rude planning one, even though we don't expect gifts, but there are people that want to buy so thought it would be easier to do a baby shower, rather than tell people individually what we *need* ya know?
