Big hugs to you
Unfortunately Yes 1 in 2 means there is a one in two chance your baby has downs. I had the results of 1 in 6 and had an amnio that showed our baby had downs syndrome. I found it to be the most difficult time of my life.
The best advice I can give is talk to a genetic counsellor - my ob organised mine - this was after we had our results but I found talking to someone about it very helpful. Not too sure what state you are in but mine was through King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth.
You might need to think about whether or not you would continue with the pregnancy - DH and I had differing opinions on this and almost split us up.
We decided to say goodbye and it was not a nice experience. We got pregnant again 2 cycles later and have a healthy baby boy.
