Hi there, I can only comment to the epi as I had a forceps delivery after a very long and difficult labour. Mine healed fine I had no problems with stinging or any type of pain at all afterwards.
It was the hemeroids (long pushing stage before they realised his head was facing the wrong way and no matter what they did he was stuck) and the thrush from the antibiotics ( needed because of the forceps) that was the killer for me afterwards.
Having said that I was petrified of a c section and wanted to avoid one at all costs but then again I was petrified of an epi too just not as much as a csection.
Information is power gather all you need discuss with your dh your birthing plan and options and do what is right for you and your baby.
