    unsure pregnancy

hi im not sure where to put this but i figured here is the best place,

my gf had just had her normal pill period about 15 days ago, and only now, eg last nite, she had noticed a bit of brownish blood discharge? i was wondering what that was, and thinking about the whole implantation bleeding and pregnancy it has got me concerned. any idea on what that represents. should b noted that she takes her pill everyday, always around the same time, However, lately she had been taking it 15 mins later for a week and on saturday about an hour earlier? would that make her have a slight breakthrough bleed?

we use condoms during sex, however every now and then, prob only a handful of times we dont start out using a condom, but end up putting one on during climax. She has continued her bleeding today, and it is again very light and faint, last nite it was a brown colour and was very light. She isnt in pain from what im aware and she has not skipped a pill since and always takes it within and around her regular time. She has been on the pill since june of 2007, and even before then she has been on it for the last 3 years with a 1 or 2 month break per year.

its just really worrying as its been 15 days since her period, or sugar pill withdrawal, and this has come out of nowhere. i heard implantation bleeding is very light, and either brownish or pinkish, this is light and brown, however from my understanding if you get your withdrawal period on the pill and you bleed it is highly unlikely , very unlikely to be pregnant as that is a sign of not being pregnant? is that correct.

    Sorry for the long post

Hey neo, i have had experiences with a slight bleed while on the pill, sounding very familiar to what you describe.

It sounds like maybe her recent slight change in her routine has just knocked her cycle around a bit, i was very flippant about times and when to take my pill, and i found when i was extra un carefull was when this slight brownish mush would appear.

She may find that when she goes to start taking her next round of sugar pills in about a week, it may take an extra day or so longer than normal for her period to start but she should be fine.

It sounds like you have been extra careful and vigilent to prevent pregnancy, so it should be fine!

    All the best

its just weird i mean, her last couple of pill cycles she would bleed a little bit during the sugar pills, then about a week later have a heavy bleed. that stopped for a cycle, and now late dec/early jan she had her bleed and it was quite heavy and started a day or 2 after taking the sugar pills. it varied from a redish, brown and even a pink in colour. but that was the heaviest it had been for like 2 or 3 cycles.

so what has worried us is that the last couple of times we had sex we hadnt used a condom to begin with, however, we would place one during the act, and at one time we actually withdrew and didnt use a condom (no actual ejaculation inside however). the thing is we were doing this for a year, she was on the pill and we would just use the withdrawal method and always escape, however we have become very paranoid and now use a condom as well, either to begin with or near the end of the act.

what has made me more secure that its not a pregnancy is that she had her withdrawal bleed 15 days ago, however after reading about ovulation and implantation etc this has freaked us out a bit.

BTW thank you for help its really hard to get good help these days, hopefully its nothing, she is very worried though.

    No worries mate.

I definately dont think she is pregnant, my husband and i used the only pill for years, and as i said i was a bit lax on that occassionally and in 5 years we only got preg when we wanted to

It does sound a bit weird with what has being going on previously though in her cycles, it could be maybe she might need to be on a stronger pill or that maybe even her natural cycle is trying to kick in!! I have heard of that happening!!

Maybe if she is really worried she could go see her GP and just let them know and he may describe a new pill for her.

Good luck, i hope i am a bit of help, but im no Dr!! LOL like i said, if she is really worried, go see a doc!!

thank you for your help! i do know of most people who are on the pill who just rely on the pill, to be honest in the beginning we did, without the internal ejaculation like most people. obviously we are still young and want to be prepared before we want to start a family hence why we use a condom and the pill as often as we can. The good thing with her is she takes it regularly, and has never missed a pill in over 3 years, except being 12 hours late a year ago. Her cycle is never regular and it has become a running joke, but it is still a bit of a worry, hopefully it is nothing like you said. and i am very thankful of your help. This place is really fantastic i only noticed it today! i wish there where more helpful places like this around
