    Weight loss after the baby

I am having bubs in less then 6 weeks. Now I know I am a bit early in asking this but better early to get started on the motivation.

I am feeling huge and being my normal size seems so far away. Would love to see some before and after pics so I can have some hope. Yes, now.. feel like I need it.

Now I am not looking for diet advice.... I am having a C section so it will be all about my diet before exercise starts at the 6 week mark.

I am just looking for a few websites or pics that show that yes it is possible. I gained like 5 kilos with my first dd. This one has been like 15!!

Thanks for looking and HUGE thanks if you can help. : )

Hi - how exciting, only 6 weeks to go! I can't show you any photos but can share my story - I put on about 13-14kgs with my pregnancy and had a c-section too (breech bubba). About one week after the birth I had already lost 10kgs, and by about 4 weeks had lost the 'baby weight'.
Currently bubba is 6 months old and I weigh about 23kg less than when I gave birth - so about 10kgs less than when I fell pregnant (I was carrying a few extra kgs due to IVF).

So yep, you can get rid of the baby weight hun!

    My tips:
    - breastfeeding if you can
    - drink lots of water
    - try to eat healthy
    - gentle exercise

but I must add that a lot can be due to good genes

    Good luck!

eta though I've lost the weight I still need to tone a LOT, so really need to do some weight bearing exercises!! Must.. find.. motivation....

Advice from one sista to another... breastfeeding is your friend

Breastfeeding does help as it burns up calories but at the end of the day it's only up to an extra 400-500 calories that you need so if you're eating more calories than you burn you won't lose the weight or put on more even. So yeah enjoy the treats but don't go overboard, just stick to healthy eating, healthy snacks and gradually build up your exercise. The main tip is to drink LOTS of water!

I put on weight after having DD even though I am breastfeeding because I snacked too much and the snacks were bad like chocolate, biscuits, sweet bread, etc. Once I cut that back and started exercising I lost the weight I put on plus a few extra to take me back to my pre kids weight.

I put on 25+ kilos with DS and was back to normal by the time he was 9 months old - that is WITHOUT any exercise or special diet. I was breastfeeding fulltime though. With DD i put on 15 kilos and i'm back to normal with no exercise or diet and she is 15 weeks old, again, i am breastfeeding full time. I will add that this time around, even though the scales say the same amount i'm definately a bit "looser" around the middle. If i can find some pics i'll come back and post them for you. xx

I gained about 17-18kg (hard to know for sure, my scales broke!) and all but 4kg is gone, and she was only born 8 weeks ago. So far I have only been walking as exercise - mostly to try and get her off to sleep, but tomorrow I am going for my first swim!

I have before and afters, will have to upload them though, and would rather put up a really recent one of me, because this week it is just falling off. And so are my pants

Had to post quickly earlier - wanted to add that in the early days I would prep a big batch of chopped fruit at night when DH was home so he could have bub if she was awake. Then I would eat that with yoghurt for breakfast or lunch - you can chop up 3-4 days worth at a time and just squeeze some lemon juice over it, it keeps really well. Also Up&Go became my daily staple - super easy to grab from the fridge while holding bub, requires no prep, utensils or cleaning and waaaaay better for you than biscuits!! I still have it now for breakfast and buy it in the 1L tetra paks. It was also handy for middle of the night feeds if I found myself feeling a bit hungry.

I gained around 11kg during my pregnancy. Through just having her and losing excess fluid, ect, I am down 8ish kgs already (she is 1.5 weeks old)! I too was pretty daunted about how my body would recover before having her but I now see that when I start to actually 'do' something about these extra few kg's it wont be too much of an issue at all

I gained 18-20kg with both pregnancies and now weigh less than I did when I got pregnant with DD1 - I had 2 c/s as well.

I gained over 30kgs with Jacko and lost 16 of that in the first week... the rest is slowly but surely coming off and I have 6kgs to go before I'm at pre-bubba weight. He's just turned 5 months and I haven't been doing anything in particular- I joined WW, but I haven't followed it very well BFing weight loss has just kicked in now I think

Ladies, thanks so much for telling me your stories! You have me inspired.. and I bought a cake to celebrate! Lmao. No that is not why I got it, but figured it may be awhile before I have some in reality. xx

You're welcome hun - Up and go is the best, ha ha. GL with your c-section too - I just posted in your other thread but honestly, mine was really a piece of cake. Worst pain was the local injection to numb prior to getting the spinal (it just stung a lot) and I didn't really have any of the 'rummaging around my stomach'-type feelings. Like you I had some time beforehand to prepare myself for it (was told about 4 weeks out that it would be a c-section) and I think that definitely helped. Also it does give you time to do some 'minor' googling/BB-searching and let yourself be well-informed etc. xxx

Admittedly my initial suggestion would be to not worry one iota about losing weight for a few weeks after you have bub. You've got enough to worry about .

I waited until my DS2 was 9 months and started weight watchers. I lost 10kg, but put 1.5kg back over a two-month period (Dec-Jan). My goal was around 10-12kg, which puts me back at pre-baby weight and within a healthy BMI range. I'm now working on the last 4 kilos, which would see me shed the 12kg I wanted to.

Exercise was/is the key for me - either throwing the kids in the double pram and hitting the footpath, or getting on the treadmill. I also find it I pay close attention to my portion sizes that helps me lose weight. I can be pretty nifty at throwing heaps of food on a plate!

Good luck with bub's arrival and losing your weight. It's not much fun feeling overweight after a bub, but don't go toooooo hard on yourself first up

    PS: March 16 is a great date for a bub ... my DS1's b'day!

    Mmmm up & go!

I put on 20kg with DS, and within a week and a half I was back to where I started!!
So hoping it works like that again!

Two of my girlfriends have the hottest bods Ive seen after babies... its unbelievable, i thought they must have lived at the gym for a few months after having their babies but sounds like its not so bad and body bounces back if you are careful
