I'm only 7 months into my journey of motherhood...but here's some stuff I wish I had known...

  • That for all the baby books you can read (and there's plenty out there!), no-one has written a book on your baby.
  • Trust your instincts like you never have before!!!
  • Don't be scared at how overwhelming it can feel in the first few weeks. This feeling will pass!
  • Just when you think you've sorted it all out...your baby will change! Just go with the flow and know that your little one is developing at a rate that will never be repeated!
  • If someone offers to cook or clean or just help out...accept the offer!
  • To get through the 'witching hours' (unsettled period of day), try cluster feeding
  • In the first few weeks, don't worry if you're still in your pj's at lunch time...try and book visitors in for the afternoon, that way you don't put pressure on yourself to be ready first thing in the morning!

Things I don't think I could live without...

  • grobags (not straight away, but after about 3 months)
  • angelcare nappy disposal unit
  • dummies (happy baby brand)
  • "The Wonder Weeks" book
  • Bonds baby clothes (stretchy, durable and easy to mix and match)
  • electric breast pump
  • grandparents!

And most importantly, remember to enjoy the journey...it's truly miraculous!
