Where's the best place to get 3D or 4D u/s in Sydney?
Hi girls,
Been thinking that I might like to try for a 3D or 4D ultra sound because I was so disappointed in the scan I had done at 19 weeks. I know they are mainly focused on the medical issues in this scan. But I was so looking forward to seeing bump and at least knowing what I was looking at.
Has anyone had one done in Sydney and can recommend? Also how much does it cost? Do you get a DVD? Do you need a referal? Can they confirm gender?
Hi Puppies, I went to 'Early View' if you google it you should get the right place, prices will be on there, from very bad memory though I think it was around $200 & you get a cd of still pictures as well as a dvd with the whole scan on it, you take in a CD of your choice as the soundtrack.
You don't need a referal & they can confirm gender, it's where we found out Punky was a girl!!
It was sooooooooo worth it, I was on a high for days & it's funny I still look at the Punk in profile & remember her little nose on the ultrasound, it was really amazing to "see" her while she was in the womb, highly recommend. Oh, also, have yourself a whole bunch of sugar before you go in lol, bub will zoom around in there & you'll get lots of cool shots!
I had my 4D ultrasound done through Sydney Ultrasound for Women at 29 weeks. I had mine done at the one at Bella Vista and they were great! My daughter was fast asleep throughout it (even though I had icey water beforehand LOL) but they tried their best to get a good shot of her face, which they did after a bit of prodding and getting me to switch onto my sides etc. And yes they confirmed that she was a girl and also took a pic of her bits for proof LOL.
I am looking at the sheet and it says they are also located at Bondi Junction, Burwood, Chatswood, Kogarah, Liverpool, Newtown and Sydney.
But like all places, the same company can also be good and bad at different locations. But I highly recommend the one at Norwest . Although that was 2.5yrs ago now, but I can't see them changing that much in such a short time.
Oh and I needed a referral from my Obs and yes we got the whole ultrasound on a video. You just bring in the tape and they will record it for you. And ofcourse we got the scan pictures too. I think you could pay more and get it on a dvd, but you would have to call them and ask. We paid $240 back then. They have a website: www dot sufw dot com dot au
Good Luck

Thanks, It was Sydney Ultra Sound for Women at Liverpool where I have had my last 2 scans at 12 weeks and 19 weeks and I was not that impressed by either of them. They are very clinical, but I guess that is what they do best and I understand how important that is. But now I want the comfort and friendly approach. I think that I might try and google as you said and see what other places are out there.
Thanks for replying I really appreciate your feedback. Just don't want to be disappointed again.
Early View weren't clinical at all hon, there is a nice family feel to the room (you can even take your family in with you!!) with couches & a big soft bed for you to lie on, it was really nice.
Yeah thanks thats just what I am looking for. This is the only child we are planning on having so I want to get the most of the experience. I have just checked out their website and saw the pictures. Its perfect!!! I have booked in for 18th October cause they say they get the best results by 28 weeks and on wards. No I just have to be patient and wait 2 months till the scan... oh I am not very good at being patient!
Thanks again, it was a great help.
I had my u/s done at San U/s for women at the San Hospital, Wahroonga. They switched it on to 3D/4D just as part of my normal scan and it was a great experience! They also recorded it for me and printed out some pics.
I think you will need a referral from your ob but I highly recommend the centre, they were great (I had about half a dozen scans throughout my pg and the technology was upgraded a few times even during my pg!).
I had 4D scans done with both Tehya and Abbey at SUFW Norwest and found them great. I think the difference is though I was in for a sticky beak scan, not a morphology scan which is what the 20 week scan is.
If you are just after a good look at bub in 4d then I would suggest waiting. The bigger they are, between 28 and 32 weeks the better the pic you will get.
SIL also went to the same place and they were great with her.
Oh with Tehya I forgot my video, we were nearly finished the scan when I remebered. She finished up, told us to go get the tape while she did the next couple and to come back and she'd get some footage for us. I really cannot fault their service there.
