Hi girls - thought I would drop in quickly while I have a chance.
Grub - hope you are having a wonderful holiday.
BW - teaching is such an important and challenging job. I so admire teachers - I used to teach ballet, and I can tell you it certainly made my respect for teachers go through the roof! Thanks for your advice re infection control. We will certainly be chucking Ms J in the shower as soon as we get her home from now on.
Smithy - hope the move is going well. Look forward to having you back soon!
Green - hope Linc is settling down a bit. Jazzy still has times even now that she goes through those clingy stages, but she has always been a bit like that.
Kelly - hope Tara is feeling better. It certainly sounds like a tummy bug to me.
BG - how is work going? Hope you are settling back into it okay.
Hi to Marcellus, Lenny and anyone I have missed.
AFU - I am pleased to report that I have a child who is 100% healthy (knock on wood - don't want to jinx myself). This operation and the medication are like a miracle. We had gotten so used to Jazzy being sick that it was starting to feel normal. It is only now that she is well that I can really look back and appreciate how sick she was and for how long! She managed 2 days at nursery this week. We kept her home with my DH on Wednesday as we just didn't feel she was quite ready, but she went on Thursday and Friday. She was very tired at the end of each day, but that is pretty much the norm when they are at nursery. She was a little teary at drop off but nothing too bad. And - oh my goodness - she is EATING!!! Her lack of eating was obviously related to her not feeling well. I thought she was still getting used to some foods prior to the operation, but it now appears that her lack of appetite was probably a result of the illness. When she was at nursery prior we were lucky if she had a taste of her lunch. Well I am proud to report that on both days at nursery this week she ate ALL of her lunch and ALL of her desert! So proud of her.
We are now down to 3 milk feeds a day (1 booby and 2 bottle). I am about to start weaning her off formula and onto cows milk - I was just waiting on her feeling better, so we may even start on that today. Can anyone whose baby is over a year old tell me if they are still using bottles or if they give the milk in a sippy cup? Jazzy has water from a sippy cup, but I am wondering if I should be starting to get her off the bottle for milk times also. Any advice on this change over would be hugely appreciated, it is all so confusing! She is also in the process of going down to 1 day sleep - some days she does only one, others (like today) she still needs the two.
Much love to all - and here is to a happy healthy little Jasmine!
Janie, Sam still has bottles for milk. He drinks water from a sippy cup and likes to play and pretend that he's drinking from our cups. He probably doesn't really need the bottle, but he still can't tolerate cows milk and it's so much easier to mix formula in a bottle rather than a sippy cup! It's such a relief to hear that your little girl is well again after so long!
Thought I would jump on while everyone is still sleeping.
Thanks for all your well wishes about Tara, and it appears she had a bit of a gastro bug but is now feeling much better. Only lasted for about 2 days so I'm happy that her little immune system could get rid of it so fast for her. So now we are back to trying to get our routine going again as her being sick pushed that one off the radar.
So far so good, although she has only started back on smaller amounts of solids again and it seems she has gone back a couple of steps as she only wants pureed mush again. I've tried her on vegies but she either gags on them or spits it all back out, so I'm resorting back to tins of savoury solids (horrible mummy) as they are quite pureed and watery and she is happy to eat them. Also her rice cereal and fruit in the morning has to also be runnier for her as well. I'm thinking she may have had some reflux burn when she vomited up and the mushier stuff is just going down better at the moment.
Not too much to worry about though as so long as she is eating and having wet nappies and more formed BM's I'm not complaining and we can always start back on the veggies in a week or so.
I hope you all enjoy your long weekend, I have my IL's here for a week but luckily DH has a weeks holidays as well so I don't have to entertain everyday.
