AFM, June Bug has moving moving around a fair bit this arvo and have been getting some weird feeling under my belly button sort of feels like being twisted??
It only started for the last couple of days and has happened about 3 times in total lasting for about 20sec??
BG- very sweet and I can imagine the flood of emotion. Just wanted to ask, i know you are in public care, due to the area you are in also, and just wondering how many scans you have...when are regular scans scheduled?...just not sure what to expect if we make it past 12 weeks this time. Might ask my midwife about that

afm- just hanging out for the next scan now...a week to go..debating whether to get a doppler to use later on
Possums - i have had to pay for my "big" scans at private providers. i was given a freebie at Ob appt at 15 weeks, doppler scan with GP at 20 weeks and will get another scan with Ob next week - basically they check you where they can. Because mine was an AC pregnancy, i have had major scans so far at 5.5 week. 8.5 weeks. 12 weeks, 19 weeks... my ob has said he will continue with reassuring scans when i'm there, and if i DO happen to develop GD, he'll do placenta function scans more frequently. we're also choosing to have a 4d scan at around 28 weeks
Nicole - braxton hicks perhaps? I've been feeling something for since about 16 weeks - every time I'm at OB I forget to ask about them. Feels like a tightening across my belly under belly button. Lasts 20 - 30 seconds and usually goes away if I move. From what I can make out from various websites it sounds like BH - doesn't hurt at all - just weird.
Yeah Nic, it's a really weird feeling. When I touch my belly in that spot it dosen't feel hard on the outside just on the inside. Will check with my OB when I see him tomorrow.
I am again rattled this afternoon because that lady I mentioned yesterday who is pregnant, just popped into the office and telling everyone about it...and she was going on to me about how exciting it is (and it is good for her of course)...it's just that she knew all about everything we experienced last year and the IVF because we worked closely together...and yet she seemed oblivious to that and not sensitive to it at all ...and she doesnt know I am pregnant right now. I know it's not a huge thing, it just all sits wrongly with me. Extra hormones and emotions dont help I guess. just venting.
She'd just had her first scan today at just over 4 months...I feel that is also reflective or her very laid back approach to the whole thing (as opposed to some particular reason for avoiding scans)

Janie and TL- You 2 must be SOOOOO excited now. I'm so thrilled for you both that your little ones will soon be safely on your arms. I remember both of you getting your BFP's and I was over the moon for you both then and am still now.

Bel - I found out from Ob that those red spots I've got are called 'Spider Angioma'
Spider Angioma is a skin condition and a form of telangiectasis - a lesion produced by telangiectasia (a vascular lesion formed by the dilation of a group of small blood vessels) which may be present as a coarse or fine, red line, or as a punctum (point or small spot) with radiating limbs (spider). This is also called spider nevus.
It is characterized by a central and elevated red dot, about the size of a pinhead, from which small blood vessels radiate (looking like a spider), spider angiomas are often associated with high estrogen levels as occur in pregnancy or when the liver is diseased and unable to detoxify estrogens.
Nic, Hmmmmm, interesting. A friend of mine who is into alternative treatments told me it could be a liver thing too. Am looking at my arm now and trying to see a central dot but can't find one. I think mine is pg related too though as I haven't had it before and it's getting really obvious now.

Yep - liver issues and a few other things. I can only see the central red dot with a very slight red radiating around the spot - can't see the actual veins - they are too small.

Small numbers of spider nevi are common in children and pregnant women. However, in large quantities, spider nevi may be a sign of an underlying disorder, such as advanced cirrhosis of the liver.
Lesions resembling multiple spider nevi (but without the "spider legs") may be a sign of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, a disorder of the blood vessels that causes bleeding and iron-deficiency anemia.
Most patients with hepatic cirrhosis develop many hepatic spiders that may become quite prominent. Many women develop lesions during pregnancy or while taking oral contraceptives. As spiders are asymptomatic (producing no symptoms) and usually resolve spontaneously in about six to nine months postpartum or after discontinuing oral contraceptives, treatment is generally not required.
